Real, informed, committed Christians don’t care if a person is black, white or polka dot. Most people define themselves by their race. Fact is, there are clods, jerks, whiners, bums, etc. in every group. And many of them are identified as Christians.

For instance, you mentioned the KKK clowns that promoted the idea that the Caucasian man is superior to all else. Therefore as soon as a person hears “white pride”, they instantly make that connection of the KKK trying to elevate the Caucasians status above all else. Whereas when an individual hears “black pride”, they usually think of African-Americans unhinging the shackles of slavery, or the civil rights movement.

Me personally, as a black male and a submitter to God alone would argue that all of those notions of ” pride” are unnecessary and excessive. I think people tend to take it too far and it becomes a form of idolatry at times (the KKK and the Nations of Islam being prime examples). Mankind is one family, and I’d like to see it as such. The only distinction I’d make is “servants of God” vs. “non-servants of God”. And I’m not saying we shouldn’t appreciate our cultures and backgrounds (as long as we’re appreciating the parts that coincide with our duty to God alone), but glorifying our skin colors — which are merely a result of geography — is going too far in my eyes.

With that said, I agree with a good chunk of what you said; especially with your closing paragraphs.

Peace,
M
