Yes, I’m getting mellow at my advanced age. But then, mellow is only one stage from being rotten, so we can at least be friendly.

Righteous anger is producing stirrings of courage, convictions, and commitment around the globe.

A few days ago, thousands of physicians told national governments they are resisting their totalitarianism and will not take it anymore. They declared government officials are not in charge of health care, and in attempting to control it, they are tyrants and totalitarians.

Such officials would also be ordinary thugs.

It was September 29 of this year that more than 6700 physicians threw down the gauntlet and demanded an end to the medical tyranny that national and international health officials had forced upon them. The concerned physicians are weary of being bullied, browbeaten, and bludgeoned by political physicians and restricted on how they treat COVID-19 patients before they are hospitalized in a life and death position. Often the mandatory unsuccessful treatment fails, ending with death.

I think death would indicate the treatment was unsuccessful.

The brave physicians declared, “this is not medicine. This is not care. These policies may actually constitute crimes against humanity.” It must be remembered that these physicians work on the frontline in the COVID battle, not sitting in ivory towers pontificating their wisdom to the unwashed masses in the streets.

Others have made similar comments about “crimes against humanity.” That is not hyperbolic but real. Health “experts” at the CDC, NIH, FDA, and WHO have been accused of dragging their feet in restricting and refusing (even ridiculing) the use of common, effective drugs to cure patients in early stages of COVID. It is alleged they are doing that to guarantee the financial success of quick and questionable but expensive vaccines. If so, that is “crimes against humanity.”

I hesitate to use the Nazi comparison at any time, but it is appropriate here. Twelve Nazi officers were sentenced to hang at Nuremberg for the deaths of innocent people, and the guilt of some officers is in doubt. IF the allegations against federal and international health officials are true, it is far worse than those Nazis, and there will be many physicians in court who sold out for 30 pieces of silver—or the hope of a Nobel Prize.

Even if all the charges against public health officials are untrue, the accusation of tyranny is clearly valid. Without seeking information from all sources, politicians took the word of people with doctorates but who had never treated a patient. Furthermore, some of the health officials had conflicts of interest—financial, political, and economical. Or egotistical.

Furthermore, no honest person would disagree that much political reaction was prompted by hatred of Donald Trump. Such politicians made decisions not based on science while they talked about following the science!

The lockdowns are unprecedented, and it’s unbelievable that so many allegedly independent-thinking Americans would obey such dictatorial mandates. How did these political tyrants— mayors, governors (and president), think they had the authority to force a businessperson to close their business after putting their life savings and sweat into it? Moreover, it is shocking that so many obeyed and thus were forced out of business.

However, this has been going on for decades since the 1964 Civil Rights Act, when the feds took freedom from everyone with the pretense of helping minorities have more freedom. If the state or federal government can tell you that you must serve certain people, then they can tell you what hours you can open, how much you must pay, what pension plans you must provide, rules about overtime, workplace regulations, and on and on and on. Political totalitarians should have been stopped at the first intrusion into a business that was not their own. Businesspeople don’t work for themselves anymore but for the government.

Lockdowns forced churches to close while strip clubs and similar places remained open! I suppose there may be a feeble argument for a businessperson to make about caving to officials but not for a church. The church must obey Scripture, and it has first amendment protection. Yet, church leaders permitted elected officials to decide whether the church could be open, how many people could attend, how they were seated, and the duration of services.

The early Disciples would reply, “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Many, maybe most, of the submissive pastors were simply trying to be obedient and wanted to help, not hinder, the community. Some pastors compounded their compromise by paying a fine. For others, it was cowardice and capitulation to secular authority. That will be revealed in eternity and not before a human tribunal.

We were told that masks are required, and one could not enter a business without a mask, but that mandate is not science-based. Masks are not capable of or made for preventing the spread of any virus. Proof of that fact is printed on the side of every mask box.

Is this a dry run for the time when one cannot buy or sell without a mark? Not much difference between a mark and a mask. Both mean subservience. But then, a businessperson can set any qualifications he chooses within very narrow guidelines since 1964. I would support a business owner’s right to require a Goodyear tire around each customer’s neck.

The governor of Texas has forbidden any business to forbid masks in the state, but a businessperson should have the right to set his own requirements for those he serves.

A medical doctor or nurse is different from a businessperson. First, he probably had a huge student loan guaranteed by the federal government. However, he took an oath to help the sick and to “do no harm.” When a physician refuses to see a patient or do early treatment, he breaks his oath, and the patient should remind him of that. A non-mask-wearing patient should not be denied treatment.

The Washington Examiner ran a story about the effectiveness of masks protecting wearers from COVID. They asked, “Do masks actually work? The best studies suggest they don’t”! A 2020 study in Denmark with 4,800 participants found that “1.8 percent of those in the mask group and 2.1 percent of those in the control group became infected with Covid-19 within a month, with this 0.3-point difference not being statistically significant.”

Reports of toxic mold and bacteria can harm your lungs and immune system as you also inhale synthetic fibers from the masks. Only the special N95 masks that few people have might be somewhat helpful.

Now the tyrants tell us that two-year-old children must be masked. Have these people lost their minds? They must not have children because small children will not wear a mask all day. Or an hour. It should be remembered that children have as much chance of getting COVID as being struck by lightning in an Iowa lake while fighting off a monster crocodile.

Some wackos have required children at school lunches to keep the masks on while eating. They must insert the food, then replace the mask, and chew and swallow the food. Then remove the mast to insert the food, replace the mask and chew the food. On and on and on. My reply: Nuts.

Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO health emergencies program, declared, “There is no specific evidence to suggest that the wearing of masks by the mass population has any potential benefit.”

Health officials at the CDC, NIH, FDA, and WHO have flipped more than a gasping fish on a riverbank. And are shocked when we ridicule their “expertise.”

Masks don’t work and even do great harm; moreover, they are abnormal since one’s face is a significant part of ones’ identity.

God reminds us in II Corinthians 3:18, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” Genesis 38:15 reminds us that when Judah saw his face-covered daughter-in-law, he “thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.”

In II Chronicles 25, King Amaziah of Judah went to see Joash, King of Israel, saying, “Come, let us see one another in the face.” The face is very valuable in communication, understanding, and making judgments.

The petty health tyrants get their jollies out of issuing lockdowns, masks, treatments, etc., but they are bags of wind and driven by ego. Those that are not, might be sincere but sincerely stupid.

The federal government is trying to sell costly vaccines, face masks, and lockdowns to a naïve public without any scientific or legal support. Medical matters are the responsibility of the state, not the federal government. That doesn’t seem to matter since the force of the federal government is often used illegally.

Moreover, the federal government cannot regulate each state’s health requirements since it is the state’s legal responsibility. Biden and his shysters at the CDC, NIH, FDA, and WHO can pontificate all they want, but the states are responsible. According to the U.S. Supreme Court, “Direct control of medical practice in the states is beyond the power of the federal government.” (Linder v. United States, 268 U. S. 5, 18, 45 S. Ct. 446, 449 (69 L. Ed. 819, 39 A. L. R. 229.)

Congress or the CDC, NIH, FDA, or Joe Biden cannot directly restrict a physician’s professional judgment or interfere with the free exercise in treating disease. Whatever power exists in that respect belongs to the states exclusively.

Political and medical tyrants have demanded masks and vaccinations but thinking Americans are saying, “no.” School teachers, bus drivers, pilots, police officers, firemen, and many medical personnel have refused the shot and masks. It tells the tyrants we will not be controlled.

With all the workers refusing the jab, mask-wearing, etc., it will break the back of the tyrants; or the workers will cave, energizing the tyrants. Our massive federal debt, bankrupt businesses, climbing inflation, and our refusal to stand will produce a total collapse of America. We can defeat tyranny again.

Tyrants are never impressed by cowardly compliance and craven capitulation; it only emboldens, empowers, and encourages tyranny. George Orwell reminded us, “All tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed, they must rely exclusively on force.” We are watching a demonstration of raw force in various nations. Thomas Jefferson opined, “When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.”

We live under tyranny if the people fear their government instead of government officials fearing the people. It’s time to stand. As Jefferson said, it’s your duty.

Because of their high view of Scripture (it is inspired, infallible, and inerrant as well as invaluable for godly living), they adhere to the fundamentals of the faith believing in Christ’s virgin birth, virtuous life, vicarious death, victorious resurrection, and visible return as well as the validity of miracles and the veracity of Scripture. Of course, at one time all orthodox Christians believed those doctrines!

So, who changed?

Furthermore, Fundamentalists insist on the independence of each local church refusing any religious hierarchy or authority over a local church. Therefore, they refuse to belong to any denomination. Each Fundamentalist congregation must be judged on its own merits.

There were exceptions to the anti-denomination position in the early 1900s when many Fundamentalists were in the Presbyterian U.S.A. and the Northern (later American) Baptist Convention. During that era when the Fundamentalist/Modernist battle was raging, many great preachers refused to recognize the theological corruption in their groups or, if admitted, they refused to leave their beloved denominations. Such a move would have had a major impact on their family, friends, finances, and future. Many others did leave and became what they should have always been—unaffiliated or independent Fundamentalists like the early churches.

Harvard Divinity School Professor (and Church Historian) Kirsopp Lake wrote, “that Fundamentalism is virtually synonymous with orthodox Christianity.” He added, “It is a mistake, often made by educated persons who happen to have but little knowledge of historical theology, to suppose that Fundamentalism is a new and strange form of thought. It is nothing of the kind: it is the…survival of a theology which was once universally held by all Christians.”

He went on: “The Fundamentalist may be wrong: I think that he is. But it is we who have departed from the tradition, not he, and I am sorry for the fate of anyone who tries to argue with a Fundamentalist on the basis of authority. The Bible and the corpius theologicum of the Church is [sic] on the Fundamentalist side.” (Kirsopp Lake, The Religion of Yesterday and To-morrow, (Boston, New York, Houghton Mifflin, 1925), pp 61-62.)

Fundamentalists usually eschew formalism, anthems, vestments, and repetition and usually prefer, even demand, simplicity in worship, doctrinally sound hymns, and serious Bible teaching and preaching. They meet in massive megachurches, smaller “churchy” buildings, storefronts, or even homes. They are also known for their independence, consequently some Fundamentalists will fuss with me for “speaking for them.” Of course, I speak for myself prompted by my knowledge of church history and current events.

People learn from examples so permit me to highlight a week in my recent experiences with Fundamentalists. Recently, my wife and I flew to Los Angeles at the invitation of a famous Fundamentalist, Dr. R. L. Hymers, Jr., pastor of the Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles. Dr. Hymers has long been a critic of unbelief at his alma mater, the major west coast Southern Baptist Seminary—Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (now Gateway Seminary), Fuller Seminary, and other educational institutions. In Hollywood, he has also raised the flag of decency to which reasonable people could rally.

Like most Fundamentalists, Dr. Hymers and his church leaders realize they are there to serve, not to be served. The servant heart is shown throughout their ministry and especially in their desire to reach the world. The church has an extensive website that provides the sermons of the pastor and others in 38 languages (video and transcribed!). Missionary pastors around the world can get help in sermon preparation in their own language by accessing www.sermonsfortheworld.com.  The work and cost to the church are enormous but it’s all about giving to others.

I was invited to be one of the speakers during the weekend celebration for his 60th anniversary of his ministry. Pastor Hymers did not question my wife’s presence even though she did not participate in the programs. Moreover, he offered to fly us first class but I demurred since I would not spend my own money that way, I would not spend the church’s money that way.

It was a few days to be long remembered. First of all, I was honored to celebrate such a lengthy time of service in a day when people don’t stay at anything very long. Dr. Hymers started the church located in downtown Los Angeles which in itself is unusual. Most churches flee to the suburbs since there are so many problems in the inner city. The church owns a very nice building in the middle of the city!

The pastor and people could not have been kinder or more generous to us. They lodged us in a very expensive hotel in a very large room. The meals were first class like the luxury accommodations. We were driven by Dr. Christopher Cagan an associate pastor who has two earned doctorates! Dr. Hymers has three earned doctorates. Another driver was a financial advisor with many prestigious clients. I was shocked and somewhat humbled that such men would take time to move us from point A to point B. And with kindness and a willing attitude. Can these be Fundamentalists? And Fundamentalists sans horns!

Moreover, there were many other active church members who were medical doctors and other professionals, all with a desire to be a help to make our days very special. One of the medical doctors is also an assistant pastor. No one seemed to be a “big time operator” or BTO, but simply Christian servants with a desire to serve. Religious leaders who are impressed with themselves and insist on BTO treatment are wearisome, boring, and a disgrace to the noble calling of ministry.

So, those Fundamentalists didn’t seem to meet the image, propagated by some media and liberal religious groups, of being uneducated wingnuts who bring a bag of rattlesnakes to church each Sunday!

Furthermore, the congregation of about 300 consisted of about 50% from Asian countries and many from various Latin American countries. The remaining were Blacks and Whites. All seemed to be happy, excited Christians. None seemed to meet the mold of White Supremacists, hater, or bigot. I do think I saw a man with a MAGA hat! Could he be a latent hater? After all, if he supports President Trump, surely he is suspect.

Fundamentalists are very generous with their money as well as time. Most teach that every Christian should give at least ten percent of his or her income to the church to meet obligations such as salaries, building payments (if any), utilities, help for the poor, and world missions.

I was in a Florida church of about 400 members recently that gives about $200,000 annually to support missionaries all over the world. That includes financial assistance to missionary church builders, orphanages, medical clinics, radio ministries, prison ministries, bicycles for mission workers, and support for the poor among them.

The closing service in Los Angeles was a big banquet at the Nixon Library where we each enjoyed a $70.00 meal! Every member and guest was given a copy of Dr. Hymers new autobiography Against all Fears. At that time, an offering was received of $3,200.00 for a ministry that works with those Christians who are working and suffering under tyrannical regimes across the globe.

I was shocked when I was given a very generous honorarium and considering the size of the church and the huge expense to get us there, lodge, and feed us, it was the largest honorarium I have received.

For sure the Los Angeles Fundamentalists do things right. The members ended the meeting giving the pastor a massive check in honor of sixty years in the ministry.

He deserved every dollar of it. And at 77 years of age and a cancer survivor, he plans to start another inner-city church next year in Los Angeles!

These Fundamentalists in Los Angeles prove that real Christianity produces good fruit, not religious nuts!

Roman Catholics experienced a major scandal in recent years that is still reverberating even behind the Vatican walls. It is commendable that the media have been willing to deal thoroughly with that issue after years of delay. It is not honest or honorable if Protestant pastors come to the defense of an erring pastor while being critical of the massive Roman Catholic sex scandal. That is pure hypocrisy, but then hypocrites are found in all races, regions, ranks, and religions.

However, the giant in the room is the non-Catholic churches that range from Adventists to Zion Christians, especially the very visible megachurches. It is my opinion that there are thousands of pastors who take advantage of church members and staff. Alas, many of the victims are young girls–and boys! No doubt, the problem extends to the evangelical seminaries and universities.

Those pastors (like Roman Catholic priests) use their position, prestige, and power over members to sexually exploit them. Of course, adult women should have screamed to high heaven at the time of the sexual abuse; but later is better than never. The problem is the accused pastors have a right to defend themselves and it is difficult to prove a negative if they are innocent–as many are. The issue is compounded because the ministry demands and denotes such high standards that a false accusation can destroy a pastor. A false accusation is why the Bible demands that a rape victim must scream and fight at the attempted rape if she is to be believed. After all, women can deceive, dissimulate, defame, and debauch just as men can.

Church members are taught that the Bible requires them to forgive their perpetrator so it would be wrong to report them to lawful officials. They are then told that if they report an abusing pastor, they will be responsible for “tearing down the ministry.” Often, the sexually abused members have been in the church for years and have been deeply involved with its growth and often they have received much help from the ministry. How could they do anything to harm a church they love?

Independent Baptists have a problem that Roman Catholics and denominations with a hierarchical ruling system don’t have. Southern Baptists have a similar problem. With Baptists, there is no bishop or pope to move an erring pastor from one church to another to smother the scandal. When a priest goes bad, he is moved from Atlanta to Anchorage and often continues his lechery. Often, the Baptist pastor stays in town, denies everything, hunkers down, and stays in the same pulpit many years. And after a few months or years following the revelation of his sins, he is accepted by his peers as if he was only guilty of speeding! The acquiescing pastors must share some of the guilt when the predator pastor strikes again against an innocent one.

The non-hierarchal way is the Bible way but it is failing in our day because of weakness and vacillation of laymen and pastors. Laymen must hold their pastors accountable, but that very seldom happens–either because of intimidation by the pastor, or love for the pastor, or a desire “not to cause a disruption of the ministry.” Not hurting the church is the excuse leaders use for not dealing with a pastor’s sexual affairs. They often say, “Let God take care of it;” however, God has told the church to take care of it. Most Baptist churches are failing at this and other matters of church discipline.

According to Christianity Today, 61% of congregations have forced a pastor to leave–often for moral turpitude. According to a doctoral thesis by a Donald Q. Hicks, a Liberty University Fellow, about 2400 pastors are fired each year in the SBC! That is from the SBC alone! That means a train wreck is about to happen, since the six SBC seminaries have only produced about 1400 graduates each year during the last ten years. Shockingly, over 15,000 pastors are fired (for various reasons) each year from all denominations according to a poll done by George Barna, the Fuller Institute, and others!

If a pastor is fired, the firing church usually does nothing to inform others that they fired a predator preacher. He is free to prey on unsuspecting communities and left free to resume other sexual conquests. All groups, even Baptists, should keep a registry of pastoral offenders to warn churches to stay away from the culprits.

Some abusive pastors go through counseling, usually by a fellow pastor across town, and after a few months, he is pronounced “rehabilitated” and free to reenter the ministry. That rehabilitation back to the pulpit should be repudiated. My friend Jerry Falwell was super gracious and kind and taught that fallen pastors could serve in a church after they had counseling. While he was right in never being alone with an unrelated woman, he was wrong about returning fallen pastors to the pulpit.

Churches are careless in choosing a pastor often without doing any checking! I have been involved in calling a few pastors and always ask them very personal questions. “Have you been married before? Have you ever been sued? How much are you in debt? Have you ever been arrested? Have you ever been accused of sexual misconduct?”

I don’t like to kick a man when he is down and I believe in loyalty to friends but when a man commits horrendous sins and presents himself as a man of God (with all that implies) then I consider him my enemy when he proves that he was not what was represented. I have opposed former friends of mine, pastors of large churches, who were guilty of sexual abuse. I have written about it and testified in the Maryland Legislature on sexual abuse by Baptist pastors.

It is time to recognize that there is a “good ole boy” network in church circles where our “heroes” are protected by their peers. After all, we don’t want to appear to be self-righteous or judgmental or unkind or whatever. So we who claim to believe, follow, and preach the Bible have become unbiblical! We are more loyal to sinners than to the Savior!

That great host of Independent Baptist and Southern Baptist pastors who live godly lives are harmed by those who think being a pastor means they can get away with any kind of sin and “work” really hard for God to balance it all out. However doing a great amount of good never negates the evil.

One famous Independent Baptist pastor (himself later charged with indiscretions and adultery) said, “If I walked into [a famous Baptist pastor’s] office and saw him on the floor on top of his secretary, I would assume he was doing mouth to mouth resuscitation, not sinful activity.” That sounds so gracious but it is cultic in thinking, if not in theology.

Laymen who refuse to pursue charges brought against a pastor must accept some responsibility for that pastor’s future indiscretions. Some laymen have been taught that they should not do so. It is supposed to be disloyal to ask a pastor to explain accusations against him! It is time for Christian men to act like men and fulfill their responsibilities as board members and get the facts. If a pastor is guilty, report him to authorities if that is required, then seek to help him and help him find another occupation. He has lost his right to be in the pulpit.

Some suggestions to stop or hinder sexual abuse and false accusations:

All pastors should demand they be held accountable by their church officers. Baptist pastors are super shy about this since the Bible teaches pastoral authority; however, it does not teach dictatorship or unaccountability. I have known pastors who consider any questions as a personal attack. That borders on cultic.

Everyone must realize that preachers are simply humans who are ordained. There are all kinds: highly educated, poorly educated, gracious, grumpy, greedy, generous, all prone to the same failures, foibles, and faults of others. Respect them if they deserve it and flee from them as if your hair were on fire if they are cultic.

No accusation against a pastor should be believed until it is proved beyond a doubt, but all accusations must be investigated. Laymen must deal with charges against a pastor and biblical injunctions must be followed. No pastor is above the law–of God or man.

A pastor should not be in a room with a girl or woman without an open door. It is amazing that this is controversial. It is common sense that even the secular world is starting to recognize! It is not that women are aggressive and not to be trusted; it is that no one is beyond temptation. Furthermore, no one is safe from false accusations.

Offices of pastors and staff should have glass doors or windows so that the office areas are visible. That would eliminate most false accusations.

There are scores of preachers in prison for sex crimes as I write. How many other pastors will join them this year?

Anarchy in the country is obvious when any newspaper is read or any television news is watched. Anarchy is a word that comes from the Greek, and signifies, strictly speaking, without government: the state of a people without any constituted authority. That seems to be our destination.

Anarchy is obvious in our community, our cottages, our churches, our colleges, and our culture.

In our towns and cities, anarchy is obvious. When a minority group is offended, they go to the streets, protest, march, throw rocks, turn over cars, burn cars and buildings and sometimes kill others. Some racists insist that “Black Lives Matter” but all lives don’t matter and they try to justify such irrational thinking because of slavery in the 19th century! Racists come in all colors.

I’m not sure what is more irrational, irritating, and insane: the fact of the illegal protests or the shallow, vocal defense by minority spokesmen and whores in the media.

When a black teenage thug refuses to obey police, resists, and indicates he is reaching for a weapon, the officer does the thing he is trained to do: he shoots the idiot. Then the dead idiot’s friends and family try to transform him into a “gentle giant” or a “good boy” and he’s often touted to be a composite of Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Oprah Winfrey. No one suggests that if the parents had properly trained him, he would still be alive. Of course, someone is sued and the parents (almost always divorced) reap a few million dollars to compensate for their loss of a brain surgeon, actor, author, community organizer, and Nobel Prize winner.

Delusion, deception, and dishonesty reign!

When the “victim” is black and the officer is white, the stage is set for a major riot with help from Rent-a-Thug, Inc. Of course, honest people know 93% of Blacks killed in the U.S. are killed by Blacks. Race should be totally irrelevant. If the teen (black or white) was a thug resisting arrest then the officer (black or white) should be praised not punished. If the shooting was not justified as determined by the evidence then the officer (black or white) should be punished as any other offender.

Weak-minded and bigoted people are encouraged in their anarchy by mayors and other officials who repeat their stupid and racist slogans! Moreover, some officials proclaim that they will not enforce the laws that they think are unfair! A few years ago, the sheriff in Chicago announced he would not foreclose on houses on which payments had not been made! Other officials refused to hand over illegal aliens to federal authorities! When elected leaders are anarchists you can be sure there will be youth with big mouths and little brains who will follow their leaders into anarchy.

Anarchy in the cottages is obvious as many fathers are missing and moms have given up trying to maintain some order out of chaos. Kids are permitted to sass parents, eat what they choose, go to school when they want, go to bed when they feel like it, watch any television shows they want and basically tell the parent where to go.

Anarchy in the churches can be observed almost any Sunday in any mainline church. Most pastors no longer preach, “thus saith the Lord” and never challenge, contradict, or confront sinning members. Moreover, pastors never want to offend anyone so abortion, perversion, same sex “marriage,” adultery, and fornication can be (if not justified) at least ignored. Such cowardly pastors are hirelings, not faithful shepherds. Those quisling church leaders give cover, not for a flock of sheep, but a pack of wolves (in sheep’s clothing) and both shepherd and flock are contributing to America’s demise.

Religious leaders are supposed to be manning the “lighthouse” for the salvation of the helpless and lost, but they have permitted the light to be extinguished. Often the light of the Gospel has become political and is only flickering. These denominational churches are almost empty (as are the offering plates): the ship is listing starboard; the sails are ripped; the mast is broken; and the captain wonders why the ship is going down! Even when the “lighthouse” is crowded, the light is very dim or already dark. Might as well tear the old lighthouse down!

The colleges where study, scholarship, and stability are supposed to reign have experienced a coup d’état by leftist professors and students. The lack of scholarship among professors is shocking and is only paralleled by the priests of the early middle ages who often could not write their own names! Not only are the professors so stupid, they are without character, civility, or comprehension. They have no knowledge that they have no knowledge! Jerks with PhDs. Sad.

What is even more shocking is that they are usually defended by school administrators and trustees.

Moreover, the students are snowflakes who demand safe places where they will not be offended by a challenge from someone who disagrees with them! It would be helpful to America if about half of the students would drop out of school and pursue the work of a carpenter, plumber, roofer, etc. That way, many of the leftist professors could be fired and they too could seek a useful trade where they make a positive contribution to our nation. Maybe then, college and university status would rise to the level of the Jerry Springer Show.

The anarchy in our culture can be seen and heard any hour of the day by turning on the television. Watch the sitcoms where immorality is accepted as normal, decency is sneered at, fathers are idiots, and moms are the heroines. Listen to the wild music that glorifies sex, drugs, violence, theft, and rebellion. Of course, anarchy in our culture is a given when the community, the cottages, the churches, and the colleges are controlled by mob mentality.

Anarchy in our country is a clear indication of the last days. Outside our walls are hordes of enemy that have vowed to take our country down. They are colluding and planning our destruction as you read these words.

Apostasy of the churches, another sign of the last days, has been obvious for two generations. Apostasy is a departure from clearly defined biblical truth. Dr. Charles Woodbridge spoke about the four M’s: mood, methods, message, and morals. A new generation wants to put its stamp on the day using the four M’s as a vehicle of deliverance.

Their mood for change is an attitude of wanting something new because it is not old; however, something should not be discarded because it is old nor should it be accepted because it is new.

Next change is a change in methods. We are told if we want to win the world, reach the youth, impact society, engage the culture, etc., we must meet people where they are, and realizing the old ways are obsolete, we must seek new approaches. After all, methods are not sacrosanct, are they? The end justifies the means, doesn’t it? God is only interested in the end results, isn’t He? Consequently, church leaders have dispensed with door-to-door visitation, revival meetings, church discipline, and verse-by-verse preaching/teaching. However, those methods are not working today only because they are not being worked.

Then comes the change in message. After all, we must rid ourselves of the nonessentials–those things that date us and hold us back. We must not offend people with a hard sell of the Gospel. Slip it in. Preaching about sin is offensive so we must get up to date and never confront people with personal sin. The modern approach is conversation and compromise, not confrontation.

The next change is in morals. Since we are only interested in the end result, we must make our message and morals comport. Abortion, while not desirable, is now acceptable. And for sure, homosexuality is accepted because we know so many “nice” people who are perverts. We are told that we can’t expect people of our day to live according to a book written thousands of years ago. However, the Author of that Book demands just that.

Therefore, church leaders have adjusted their mood, methods, message, and morals and the churches are more like social clubs rather than lighthouses.

It is not melodramatic to say that American streets will become dark, deserted, and dangerous places as anarchy reigns.

Apathy of Christians is the final indication of the last days. Ask the average church member what his responsibilities are about living godly and reaching a world for Christ and he replies, “I don’t know and I don’t care.” I just discovered there is a song with that title and while it does not achieve the level of mediocrity, it does highlight the attitude of millions of Americans.

Most Christians are concerned with non-essentials such as appearance, achievement, approval, and affluence!

They care about their appearance, yet often look like hobos, asking, “How do I look?” But how can one be more self-centered than that? Of course, after the basics are taken care of such as bathing, shaving, and reasonable dress, surely there are far more things more important than how one looks.

The second concern is achievement or what I have done. While that is more important than appearance, it is still about self.

The next concern is with approval or how people like me. This is probably one of the most time-wasting, nonsensical thoughts in the human brain. For generations this has been a major drive in the lives of people, especially young people. This is the reason teens pierce their bodies with silver, have silly tattoos, wear outrageous hair, wear skimpy clothes, talk nonsense, and frequent “the” places to be seen. It screams “insecurity” because they want approval.

The fourth concern of modern church-going Americans is affluence or what I own. But then, most Americans are so far in debt and spending more than they earn, they don’t really own much. The average family would be in disaster if they had to have a thousand dollars this week. They “owe their souls to the company store.”

If younger people have the latest gadget or phone or computer or a “cool” pair of shoes then they think they are affluent. And it helps to have mom and dad’s credit card. Mom and dad are fools and are destroying their children whom they profess to love.

Final days are approaching like an out-of-control juggernaut in a crowded street in Calcutta. Someone will get hurt. Get ready.

Jeramiah wrote about people who could not blush in Jer. 6:15. “Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.” That’s where we are today in our churches. Church leaders and laymen can’t blush because they don’t see any wrong in their aspirations, actions, and accomplishments. Nothing seems to be wrong anymore.

The leaders of the Episcopal Church USA, the Presbyterian Church USA and the United Church of Christ left the Scripture long ago and have lost their ability to blush. They departed sound biblical doctrine many years ago, and they’re now celebrating “marriage equality.” Wicked living always follows bad doctrine. These churches advocate transgenderism, but normal sexuality is considered quaint. Other church groups are quickly coming to the same conclusion.

Gordon Clanton writing in the Presbyterian Journal opined, “Not all sex outside of marriage is bad….In the age of the Pill we assert that sex is (morally) neutral. The young man who is determined to wait until marriage has put sex on too high a pedestal.” Clanton may not blush but I’m sure great Presbyterians such as Billy Sunday, Clarence E. Macartney, J. Gresham Machen, and Carl McIntire are blushing if that is possible in Heaven.

A church south of Richmond, VA doesn’t care about “material things” so they worship in the nude even in cold weather. It seems many preachers have lost the ability to blush and also lost their minds. Nothing is sacred to them.

At HerChurch/Ebenezer Lutheran in San Francisco that is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the liturgy of the “divine feminine” is celebrated every Sunday. The pagan service is led by Pastor Stacy Boorn and her priestesses and staff. Desiring a little religious hocus pocus to justify their evil living, anything goes as they reach out to pagans. The female pastor declared, “Our prayers and liturgy reach back into the storehouse of tradition to bring forth names [such] as Mother, Shaddai, Sophia, Womb, Christ-Sophia, Midwife, Shekinah, Kundalini, She Who Is.” And no one is blushing!

Many of the interdenominational megachurches and even Baptist churches such as Rick Warren’s Saddleback Baptist Church in California have lost their ability to blush at all their concessions, compromises, and corruptions.

Rick addressed the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) that is in bed with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. He even apologized for all of us! Rick has a deficiency of wisdom since he seems to support anyone. I have a photo of him hugging Cat Stevens (known as Yusuf Islam) who supported the call for death of Rushdie because he had “insulted” Muslims. Cat also wrote, “I’m praying to Allah to give us victory over the kuffar”! Kuffar is a Muslim term for non-Muslims usually preceded by “dirty.” Rick boasted that Cat came by to visit him at his home. I think Rick may have a sense of insecurity and needs to be loved by everyone.

In May of 2015, Rick held hands with homosexual activist Elton John at a congressional hearing even joking that if they kissed it would be “the kiss heard ’round the world.” Rick doesn’t understand that perversion is no joke. Rick is a brilliant, talented man without wisdom or discernment, two characteristics, in my opinion, that are essential for preachers.

The lesbian bishop of Stockholm “proposed a church in her diocese remove all signs of the cross and put down markings showing the direction to Mecca for the benefit of Muslim worshippers.” She was the first open lesbian bishop in the world. Wonder what Martin Luther would think of that? It seems another Reformation is needed but “Luthers” are in short supply.

I blushed when the historic black Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Miami had Louis Farrakhan preach to an overflow crowd on July 30, 2015. Louis said, “I’m looking for 10,000 in the midst of a million. Ten thousand fearless men who say death is sweeter than continued life under tyranny….So if the federal government won’t intercede in our affairs, then we must rise up and kill those who kill us; stalk them and kill them and let them feel the pain of death that we are feeling!” Had I made a similar statement I would be in a Federal prison at this time. The jerk even received a standing ovation from that Baptist crowd! Has everyone lost his ability to discern between right and wrong?

I was appalled at Farrakhan’s vicious, vile, and violent diatribe but would have been almost as appalled even if he had spoken effectively about family, drugs, etc., since Louis is a rabble-rousing Muslim! I was sure the historic church was a member of the Progressive National Baptist Church convention, a group of left wing black preachers who broke from the National Baptist Church convention in 1961. However, Mt. Zion Baptist in Miami is an Independent Baptist Church! I interviewed the pastor and told him I was appalled that any Baptist would have an unbelieving Muslim in his pulpit. The pastor was very kind and we spoke for almost an hour and he professed to believe the Bible and preach the Gospel. I reminded him of the Apostle John’s admonition not to bid god speed to any who do not hold to the doctrine of Christ. This incident only proves that not all Independent Baptist Churches take a separatist stand.

“Beer and hymns” events have occurred at churches in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Cincinnati. “Beer, Bible, and Brotherhood” meets in Oxford, CT as they study Rick Warren’s bestselling book. Such events are taking place across America. Even Moody Bible Institute that trains thousands of youth for the ministry has lifted its ban on long hair for men and nose stud earrings for women and dropped its prohibition of alcohol and tobacco use for faculty and staff. (When I was a student we could not get closer than twelve inches to any female!) Biola University made a similar ruling in September of last year.

Tom Smillie, Christian beer maker, says his love of good beer has allowed him to build relationships with nonbelievers. I suppose smoking marijuana and watching porn would enhance his relationships even further!

Graduates of Taylor University, Calvin College, and other “Christian” institutions are big into beer brewing and drinking.

I blush when Fundamentalists yell about their love and adherence to the Bible (even the KJV) yet refuse to discipline wayward members, give the best seats to the high and mighty, seek the favor of political officials, preach sermons that almost say something, and imply that crowds, cash, and clout are indications of success.

The early Christians were accustomed to poverty, persecutions, and prisons. Today, we are grasping for prosperity, pleasure, and popularity. I blush knowing into whose hands modern churches have fallen.

From the beginning of America, churches have been the moral compass for the nation so they are the source for what little morality is still extant in the U.S. G. K. Chesterton declared that we don’t need a church “that is right when the world is right, but a church that is right when the world is wrong.” The world of Iowa is wrong and church leaders must not capitulate to evil to save their skin or give them a few more years of questionable existence.

The state of Iowa has said that church people can believe what they want but the state will be the arbiter of what they practice–even to regulating church restrooms! Principled Christians down through the centuries would have yelled, “To the arena, bring on the lions.” But most modern church leaders yawn and appoint a task force to look into the matter.

Iowa’s anti-discrimination law is based on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” and requires all entities engaged with the public to not discriminate. The state is seeking to give special treatment to homosexuals and trangenders. But then, sane people know that homosexuals are only heterosexuals who choose to do vile, even unspeakable things to each other. Transgenders are people who don’t like the way they were born so they pretend that they are the opposite sex. Such people, if sincere, are deeply disturbed and should not be sexually mutilated or have abnormal hormones pumped into their bodies but need to be taught or convinced that a person with a male organ is identified as a male whatever he may feel like.

Iowa officials state that any place that is “distinctly private by its nature…offers some services, facilities, or goods to the general public…will be treated as a public accommodation for those services.” Since churches are open to the public, the Iowa Civil Rights Commission has determined that they are subject to anti-discrimination laws. There is an exception for churches but not if their services are open to the public! If church members want to pray, preach, and sing without inviting the public then the law does not apply–but few churches do that. But if they have a Christian school, a day care, a softball league, food pantry, homeless ministry, etc., then compliance is required–or else. The state assumes the right to decide what is “a bona fide religious purpose.”

But that bird won’t fly. The Bible does command us in Mark 12:17 to “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” However, the church can never permit “Caesar” to determine what is his and what is God’s. If so, then the whole principle is nullified.

The practical repercussions to a church will be devastating, defeating, and destructive; but then, maybe that’s what the secular crowd wants. That means churches must permit men who refuse to admit that their genitals identify them as male and choose to think they are females must have access to the ladies restroom! Not even if pigs learn to fly! But it gets worse! It also applies to locker rooms and living facilities “without [anyone] being…questioned.”

That means a pastor or deacon must never inquire or question a person about his/her/its sexual identity and guide them to the “proper” restroom nor can a pastor expound Lev. 18 or Romans 1 or ridicule transgender insanity. That would be, according to the commission, “illegal harassment” which could include “repeated remarks of a demeaning nature…demeaning…stories…and intentional use of names and pronouns inconsistent with a person’s presented gender.” That means I could not follow my resolute decision to always refer to Bruce Jenner as Bruce and always use he instead of she. Because he is not a she. He has always been a male, is a male today, and will be a male in the future. Church leaders who don’t conform can spend a long time in the courtroom and/or pay heavy fines.

So the august state officials have decided that they will set the standard for what is modest, decent, safe, normal, acceptable, sane, and biblical! Any pastor who submits to such outrageous, odious, and overreaching demands will prove that he is a pathetic preacher unworthy of his calling and should quickly return his ordination credentials and choose a profession that doesn’t require much character.

Since I am a Baptist and we make much of separation of church (but not God) and state and much of the sovereignty of Christ over His church, I assume that Baptist pastors in Iowa are preparing to resist the state. Maybe they are prepared like Chinese dissidents who keep a small bag handy at all times in event of their arrest. Such pastors had better look at the big picture because they may spend years in jail for defying the state and federal authorities. If they have true convictions, there will be no compromise, no concessions but plenty of confrontation and conflict.

The Bible is full of courageous, consecrated, and committed men who took a stand for principle even risking their lives. The Disciples told the authorities in Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” We still must do that whatever the price!

Hugh Grotius (1583-1645) of the Netherlands is the “father of modern international law.” He wrote in The Law of War and Peace, Book 1: “Among all good men one principle at any rate is established beyond controversy, that if the authorities issue any order that is contrary to the law of nature or to the commandments of God, the order should not be carried out. For when the Apostles said the obedience should be rendered to God rather than to men they appealed to an infallible rule of action.” That is as true today as it was 400 years ago.

John Knox agreed: “But thereof be assured that all is not lawful or just that is statute by civil laws, neither yet is everything sin before God which ungodly persons allege to be treason.”

Even Albert Einstein said, “Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it.” He also said, “Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” Many Iowa pastors are mentally preparing their justification for compromise and cowardice: “Well, Christians must always obey the law.” Or, “We must be examples to others.” Or, we can never agree on everything the government does.” Or, “I will obey the state until they tell me I can’t preach the Gospel.” (That one is so threadbare that it is embarrassing it is still being used.)

I suggest that Iowa pastors meet to inform their local “Caesars” that they will not obey their intrusive law. They should meet on a week day at the capitol building and form the word NO! with their bodies as they stand silently. No doubt, many laymen will also attend the rally and will help make the exclamation point. No singing, praying, or preaching is necessary but a silent thirty minutes saying, NO! After the rally, there will be no candy wrappers, cigarette butts, water bottles, or beer containers on the street. No one will curse and no one will threaten the cops. No one will break windows, turn over cars, or loot the local stores. No one will light a match to a cigarette or molotov cocktail.

To my pastor/friends in Iowa, it’s time to fish or cut bait. You have preached all your lives about standing for truth. You have often used John Bunyan as an example of courage. Now, it is time to prove that a God-called preacher has a compassionate heart, a working brain, a chest with some hair on it, and a spine in his back.

If, instead of a spine, there is a yellow streak, then it’s time to do the principled thing and leave the ministry.

Marriage has been on a slippery slope since God performed the first wedding ceremony in Eden to Lamech taking a second wife to Christ’s appearance at the marriage in Cana down to the dismal state of marriage today.

Marriage scholar Lawrence Stone noted that in the Middle Ages marriage was “treated as a private contract between two families . . . For those without property, it was a private contract between two individuals enforced by the community sense of what was right.” Indeed, marriage wasn’t even regulated by law in Britain until the Marriage Acts of 1754 and 1835 as I have documented in other columns. Marriage is a family and church affair not a state function.

I refuse to obey the Supreme Court ruling. Same sex “marriage” is impossible no matter what they and others say. Declaring something does not make it true. The Supremes and their acolytes are living in a dream world. That means they are delusional. Many pastors have taken the position that the state should have nothing to do with weddings: no forms, no application, no approval, and no involvement at all. Weddings should be done by churches that set their own standards. Of course, basic protection must be required such as age, relationship, etc. Couples, with approval of parents are writing their own vows and are united by their local pastor who signs a covenant along with the couple. Such weddings are then registered at the county courthouse.

While weddings should be holy, they are often turned into mockery with nutty “vows” spoken as a sappy couple jumped out of an airplane, vows taken in prison, and now the happy couple is a dead couple in South Africa! A dead Johannesburg “couple” was married recently! Seems a man shot his pregnant fiancée dead then killed himself. They were “married” posthumously a few days after the murder/suicide. The news account said their family and friends “wanted to remember them as a happy couple destined for a happy life together.” Happy couple! What nonsense. To think they killed a tree to print such tripe.

In front of 250 guests, an Aussie couple was married nude wearing only their wedding rings and a stupid expression. Another couple was married at T. J. Maxx; another in a morgue after the groom was murdered; another inside a shark tank with the groom wearing a traditional black wetsuit and the bride in an all-white wetsuit. Another couple vowed to be faithful “for as long as we can stand each other.” Still another promised to be faithful “through fat and skinny.”

Jerks, trying to be cute, or flippant, or profane, have taken their weddings into the dirt. But, at least, they did get married, except for the dead ones. That’s wacky but better than living like barn-yarn animals.

In ancient, uncouth civilizations it was a custom of young men to capture the bride of his choice usually from another tribe and when men became more civilized it became simulated, not actual.
Marriage by capture was common in many cultures being the normal entrance into marriage. Judges 21 provides a good example of marriage by kidnapping. Often a man had help from his friends and relatives to assure the success of the capture. That was wrong.

Kidnapping of brides is still practiced and is in fact increasing in the Caucasus region and in parts of Mexico, Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The modern honeymoon harkens back to the ancient couple hiding out for a few weeks from discovery. Hopefully within a month, the bride would be pregnant and her family would resign themselves to the marriage. Moreover, the family would acquiesce to the marriage because of the stigma of the couple living together for a few weeks.

From actual seizure they later thought it more civilized to purchase a wife. At times a man exchanged one of his female relatives for his desired bride and at other times he served the bride’s father for an agreed period of time. Jacob working for Laban to get his daughter is the first Biblical example. Of course, Jacob got more than he expected. He had to work fourteen years to get the girl he wanted. In Genesis 29 when Jacob told Laban, his future father-in-law, that he wanted his wife, Laban called for his neighbors and friends to come to a feast after which Jacob took her to his bedroom. The same thing happened in Judges 14 when Samson was married and had a feast for his friends but Samson didn’t get her to his bed, but his best friend did!

Then there were festival times when it was acceptable for a girl to capture the husband of her dreams by “netting” him usually while he was asleep. The modern custom of females proposing to men during Leap Year is a carry-over of this custom.

It was also normal to get a wife by purchase as in the case of Jacob, Ruth, and Hosea. David also purchased Michal, King Saul’s daughter, with 200 Philistine foreskins according to I Samuel 18! Kings often gave their daughters to other kings (or their sons) to cement their national relationships thereby guaranteeing peace. No doubt many of Solomon’s marriages were political marriages. Of course, those multiple, heathen marriages were wrong whatever the reasons.

Some men got wives for their acts of valor as in the case of David. It was promised that whoever killed Goliath would get many rewards including the daughter of King Saul.

When a girl left her home to be a wife, her family was given a dowry since they were losing a major asset who provided labor (income) to the family. So the man got a wife and the wife’s family got the dowry. It was not looked upon as a wedding gift. Everyone was happy.

Couples married very young in the Old Testament days, always with parents’ permission, but by the New Testament times, regulations required the boy to be 13 and the girl 12. If a young husband died, his wife was taken in marriage by his brother or close relative. You may remember that this is the foundation for Ruth and Boaz. Such an arrangement is known as levirate marriage. That was worthy in that place and time.

Starcke and Westermarck, confirmed earlier conclusions that “marriage or pairing between one man and one woman, though the union be often transitory and the rule frequently violated, is the typical form of sexual union from the infancy of the human race” (History of Matrimonial Institutions, I, pp. 90, 91). So it is incorrect for apostles of permissiveness to suggest that marriage of a man and woman are of recent origin. They go back to the Garden of Eden!

So even less than perfect marriages (and there is no such thing as a perfect marriage) are the norm back to the beginning of time. That takes into account unhappy marriages and those that don’t last. The ideal is ideal.

Yes, some marriage ceremonies are wacky, some wrong, and worthy! What kind was yours?

The “separatists” say that the corruption is too bad and they must leave as a protest and associate with others who are willing to practice biblical beliefs. The “stay-inners” are not willing to make the break with a lifetime association. Many don’t agree with denominational leaders but will stay in and fight the doctrinal corruption and refuse to conform to the unscriptural rituals. They are willing to work and fellowship with those who hold a low view of Scripture. We have seen this before: separatists verses nonconformists.

In church history, a nonconformist or dissenter was anyone in England who belonged to the Church of England but disagreed with it. Such people were militant advocates of religious freedom. They were banned from being in the military, civil work, or any college. So, the nonconformists started their own schools. Nonconformists were principled people who paid a price for their stand; however, they should have departed from apostate denominations. People who did leave were separatists.

The “stay-inners” (or nonconformists) were called “Puritans” and they were highly disciplined people who tried to reform or purify the Church of England from within the membership and Pilgrims were highly disciplined people who left or were never part of that denomination. They were separatists and later called “Congregationalists,” believing that each church was independent and autonomous. That is the biblical position and the position that all Baptists take.

Devoted Christian leaders had been seeking, even demanding, a reformation in the Church of England for a hundred years. The Protestant Reformation made an incredible impression on Europe but had limited impact on England. Puritans, seeking to purify the church from within, longed for a change especially by removing the trappings of the Roman Church. These Puritans had worked their way into places of power in the Church of England and remained in power because there was a consensus on the “the true profession of the gospel … the Protestant Reformed religion.” Because of that one basic agreement, the Puritans were fairly safe in their positions and many were highly admired scholars. They disagreed with the liturgical and doctrinal positions of the Church of England but were willing to “put up with it” for the sake of unity, peace, and convenience. That is the argument of all “stay-inners.”

About this time, King Charles I declared war on Scotland and asked Parliament to fund it but he was opposed by many, including Oliver Cromwell (an Independent Puritan) and a masterful military leader although without any military training. Charles’ policies were so hated that 30,000 Englishmen fled for the New World during his reign. After winning the Battle of Marston Moor, Cromwell became a highly admired hero by the soldiers and society. After another glorious military victory Cromwell was even more idolized and King Charles I was arrested! Cromwell was a major proponent of the beheading of the King in 1649.

Separatists left (or were never part of) the state church and supported Oliver Cromwell and the Commonwealth of England during 1653 to 1658. Sadly, Cromwell became an extremist closing the theaters and banning most sports. Children playing on Sunday afternoon were whipped. Adults were fined for swearing and for repeated cases, jailed. Makeup was prohibited and women wearing makeup had their faces scrubbed on the streets. The man who came to power being loved, was soon hated and died of malaria in September of 1658. It was said that, although not a king (he had refused the title), he wielded more power and authority than any king.

He wanted to restore morality but he used the law to accomplish his commendable desire. He was a good example of a good man out of control. His enthusiasm for morality trampled on the rights of others and his Puritan sympathies were obvious in his decisions and appointments. Yet, in a 2002 BBC poll in Britain, Cromwell was selected as one of the ten greatest Britons of all time! Even his biggest critics admit that Cromwell’s rule was the beginning of democracy in England.

When Charles II came to the throne in a restored monarchy, he had Cromwell’s body dug up, tried for treason and regicide, thrown on a garbage heap, and his head displayed on a spike outside Westminster Hall for decades as a warning to others. With the monarchy restored in 1660 the other religious bigots (Bishops of the Church of England) were back in control.

The newly crowned King Charles II desired tranquility and asked “can’t all of us just get along” but the Church of England thugs thought it was payback time. They wanted Puritan blood–and they got it. The punitive Act of Uniformity 1662 required all preachers to be ordained in the Church of England. The preachers who refused to comply were called nonconformists and dissenters but they were still in the Church of England. However, the act applied to separatist Presbyterians, Independents, Baptists, etc.

In the 1600s, the government of England started losing control in Wales when hundreds of independent churches and chapels were established by Independents, Baptists, Quakers, and others who refused to conform to the established church. The nonconformists and separatists were gaining too much influence in England and Wales so the Bishop-controlled Parliament decided to bring them under control. The Act of Uniformity of 1662 required all ministers to assent to the rites and liturgy of the Established Church. In fact, all clergy, college professors, and schoolmasters had to agree with everything in the Book of Common Prayer! However, few knew what was in the new edition but they had to agree anyway!

All who refused to follow the common prayer book were ejected from the Church. Out of approximately 10,000 preachers throughout the country, about 2,500 were ejected (and some went to jail) but 20% to 25% of the country continued to worship illegally, holding secret services in barns and other unapproved locations. This was known as the Great Ejection of 1662. Such people, both preachers and laymen, paid a price for their principled decision for about 150 years. All the nonconformists who disagreed with the Church should have become separatists.

Another act, the Quaker Act of 1662, required subjects to swear an oath of allegiance to the king, which separatists and nonconformists did not do because of religious convictions. The Puritans did not want to perjure themselves to satisfy the newly restored Bishops. The Puritans had made oaths to reform the church in Cromwell’s day; and they could not swear an opposite oath to satisfy the Bishops that they agreed with every single word of the liturgy. But it got worse.

In 1664, the Conventicle Act was passed that forbade conventicles (a meeting for unauthorized worship) of more than 5 people who were not members of the same household. The obvious purpose was to keep the nonconformists and separatists from meeting. It got even worse.

In 1665, the Five Mile Act was passed forbidding nonconformist ministers, who were forbidden from coming within five miles of incorporated towns or the place where they previously lived. They were also forbidden to teach in schools. The screws were getting tighter.

The king, remembering his daddy had lost his head, wanted to be less severe–even showing tolerance; however the Bishops were adamant: the law must be enforced to the letter. With the religious bigots back in control, they were merciless now that they were in the catbird seat.

The bigots are still in control but they are called “Progressives” or more correctly, radical leftists. They have silenced most of the clergy who don’t really believe anything; they have intimidated and sedated ordinary citizens; they climbed into bed with Hollywood and the media; and they have taken the culture captive.

Many outstanding Christian leaders refused to leave corrupt denominations such as John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church, who died in the Church of England. Clarence E. McCartney died still loyal to the Presbyterian USA, and W. A. Criswell and Adrian Rogers died loyal to the Southern Baptist Convention. All were among the greatest preachers who ever lived, yet refused to be a separatist. They refused to conform to the norm but did not break with corruption.

It is time for Christian leaders to bite the bullet and “come out from among them and be separate” paying the price such people have always paid. If they do that, then it won’t be the Great Ejection but the Great Rejection as they flee corrupt churches in protest.

Principled people who believe the Bible must flee false, failed, and fraudulent churches.

Former U. S. Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson said about the Supreme Court’s authority, “We are not final because we are infallible; we are infallible because we are final.” That attitude is not only arrogant but audacious and asinine. However, the Supreme Court is not infallible (as only a fool would say) nor is it final (as only a fanatic would say). I remind you that their decisions are called, “opinions” and do not reach the level of the Ten Commandments–or even the Ten Recommendations. Same-sex “marriages” will continue to be abnormal, abominable, and aberrational even as shallow people applaud them.

Some have said, “The Court has spoken. That settles it.” Oh, really, what about Dred Scott? The Court, consisting of appointed, flawed individuals, has reversed itself over 200 times and it must be remembered that the Court is illegitimate when it usurps the position of legislatures. If the Court wants to write laws, they should resign, run for Congress, expose their financial souls and seek approval from the voters. The Justices are rogues in black robes drunk with power. The Court thinks it is omnipotent and omniscient and it seems to be almost omnipresent in our lives.

If laws that are contrary to the Constitution can be written by unelected officials then why do we have a Constitution? It means we are living under tyranny.

As a consequence of this opinion, everyone and all organizations will react. U.S. legislators must consider the “good behavior” clause in Article III, Section I of the Constitution that requires them to remove an erring justice from the court. That will happen when Hell has an enormous drop in temperature which can’t happen according to my theological beliefs. America will be free from the tyrants only when some of them reach room temperature.

State governors have an opportunity to affirm their sovereign authority and say, “We will not comply. You gave an opinion over something beyond your responsibility. We will not permit or give approval to behavior that is a threat to civilization. Same-sex ‘marriages’ will not be recognized in this state.” Then, the Court will charge the governors with contempt (which the governors will be guilty of as I am but I’m doing my best to conceal my contempt) and send U.S. Marshalls to arrest them. The governors can choose to use state troopers in their defense or choose not to do so. Bad position to be in but then no one asked for this except homosexuals and those whose highest ambition and reason for living is to satisfy homosexuals.

I don’t know what governors will do but I know what I will do and recommend other preachers do. I will not comply. I will live as if the decision was never made.

Pastors should inform everyone that they will never perform a same-sex “wedding.” Nor will the church ever be used for such activity. It is not enough for pastors not to perform such weddings; they must go on record of that decision.

Pastors should make it clear that unrepentant homosexuals will not be accepted as church members just as unrepentant fornicators, adulterers, thieves, abortionists, killers, and radical Liberals are rejected. Surely no pastor has to be convinced that he should never permit any secular authority to dictate to his church.

Pastors should prepare to lose the 501 (c) (3) tax status. Pastors have been negligent if they have not prepared church members for that event. The loss really should be no big deal since sincere Christians give 10 to 15 percent of their total income because they want to–not because of a tax advantage.

Preachers should continue to preach that homosexuality is perversion and if homosexuals do not repent they will be cast into Hell as will fornicators. At the same time the homosexual, like the adulterer, must understand that God loves him and is willing to forgive him at any time. And so is the church.

Pastors must warn members not to attend same-sex “marriages” of close friends or family members and refuse without alienating them if at all possible. With many, it will not be possible and the loss will be heartbreaking; however, any kind of approval will make one “a partaker of his evil deeds.”

Sunday school teachers and Christian school teachers should continue to teach that any sex outside of man-woman marriage is sinful requiring genuine repentance.

Christian colleges should continue to refuse homosexuals as students so housing for same-sex “couples” on their campus is a moot issue.

If the Court should rule that gun ownership was illegal or that freedom of the press was now illegal, would any sane person comply? It is ridiculous to suggest that the Court can write law as in this case and in the Obamacare case then declare that the newly written laws are constitutional! No one gave these birds such carte blanche authority.

In 1804, Jefferson wrote: “The opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of action but for the Legislature and Executive also in their spheres, would make the Judiciary a despotic branch.” That’s where we are today: despots reign.

Abe Lincoln said in his First Inaugural Address “that if the policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court, the instant they are made in ordinary litigation between parties in personal actions, the people will have ceased to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned their Government into the hands of that eminent tribunal.”

In 1832, President Andrew Jackson’s contempt of the Court’s decision in Worchester v. Georgia was on full display when he allegedly replied, “John Marshall [Chief Justice] has made his decision; now let him enforce it!” He was acknowledging that the Court does not have an army to enforce its decisions although it does have a few U.S. Marshalls that can arrest offending individuals.

The Court Jesters have made their ruling, now let them try to force thinking and committed Americans to accept perversion as normal, natural, and noble.

Pope Francis caused a major stir recently when he made an ambiguous statement about animals in Heaven. Even CNN admitted that “it’s unclear what he believes about this;” however, I am not unclear what I believe about this.

Christ declared that in the last days of mankind even church leaders would be “blind.” He said in Rev. 3:17: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” I can testify to that since I have preached in a few thousand churches in my lifetime. Our churches are rather rich and think they have need of nothing and don’t know that they are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. And if that is true of Bible-preaching churches, it is sure true of churches where the Bible is not held in the highest esteem.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Rom. 1:28 “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” That is obvious in many different ways but especially in churches where animals are considered almost like humans. While pets are desirable and even loveable, they are still pets and will not go to Heaven.

Ecc. 3:21 informs us “Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth.” That clearly teaches that animals go to the earth in death. However, modern church leaders have twisted the Bible like a pretzel to comport with confused desires of pet lovers. I call them the Fido-in-Heaven crowd.

The Associated Press ran a story about a Presbyterian Church in LA that “has turned God’s house into a doghouse” for one service each Sunday. Boy, that pastor knows what the Gospel is, doesn’t he! That dude should be out selling insurance or grave plots not discrediting, desecrating, and defiling God’s house. That church service is called “Canines at Covenant” and has individual doggie beds, dog treats, and canine prayers! Yes, that church has “gone to the dogs” and the dogs are going to church but not to Heaven!

The flakey pastor said, “Many Christians love their pets as much as human family members, but churches have been slow to recognize that love as the work of God….When we love a dog and a dog loves us, that’s a part of God and God is a part of that.” The AP article did not report any Bible verses to support the radical reverend’s rant. (I have a hunch where that pastor is going.)

The Roman poet, Juvenal, reported that as the Roman family disintegrated along with the empire, that wealthy women preferred lap dogs over children. Are there portents of that in America and Canada?

A Boston suburb has dog-friendly worship services called “Woof ‘n Worship.” Fido, Fluffy, and Felix may be made deacons or elders in the near future in some of those churches but those pets will not go to Heaven! Such Fido-in-Heaven pastors were greatly encouraged by the nonsense spouted by the Pope recently.

Well, since pets are going to church what happens when they die. For sure, they are not going to Heaven.

Today, there are nearly 600 functioning pet cemeteries in the United States and even some traditional funeral homes are now permitting companion animal burial. One dog’s tombstone promised, “Until We Meet in Heaven.” Another declared, “We Pray That We Will Meet Again.”

There are Catholic Collies, Methodist Malteses, Presbyterian Poodles, but they are not Christian and will not be in Heaven. Nor will Mormon Mutts, Baptist Bulldogs, Pentecostal pooches, or Lutheran Labs.

Priests and monks of the Franciscan Order bless animals on Oct. 4 on the feast day of Francis of Assisi. Even Episcopalians are trooping after the Catholics in this heretical practice.

Much of this absurdity is promoted by bestselling books such as Dog Heaven, followed by Cat Heaven, and The Heaven of Animals teaching that “when dogs get to heaven they’re welcomed by name, and angels know every dog’s favorite game,” and where “horses in heaven are never alone, and grass is much sweeter than grass here at home.” Gag! That was written by a nondenominational, evangelical Christian!

Face it: there will be no poodles in paradise! Even Saint Bernards won’t be in Heaven.
