Now we see heart-wrenching videos of babies, children, and innocent men and women dead from a chemical attack on the northern city of Khan Sheikhoun that would make a stone cry. It is alleged that Assad, the dastardly, devious dictator of Damascus dropped the deadly gas, but no one has proved that and Syrian officials have vehemently denied responsibility. The Local Coordination Committee, a monitoring group, said the airstrike was carried out by Russia–a supporter of Assad.

Frankly, it doesn’t make any sense for Putin to order such an attack. He has nothing to gain and much to lose by such irresponsible violence. Same with Assad, after all, he seems to be winning in the very vicious civil war. Could the chemical attack be a false flag operation whereby rebel terrorists attacked their own people to place blame upon Assad and/or Russia?

The conflict is not between two groups but involves Assad’s forces fighting a rebel group consisting of hundreds of groups numbering about 100,000 fighters. Then ISIS got involved and it’s now at least a three-way fight. There are no “good guys.” Now, both Assad’s forces and the rebels are fighting a separate battle against ISIS at the same time. It’s a major mess in the Middle East.

President Trump authorized an air strike against the Assad regime Thursday night in retaliation of the chemical attack; however, some Americans think he may have acted without all relevant facts. Trump’s attack upon Syria was a benefit to ISIS terrorists! Something’s wrong here because ISIS is a far greater threat to the U.S. than is Syria.

Trump must remember that his first priority is protecting the U.S.; however, the gas attack, while horrendous, was no threat to Americans. At least his response sent a needed message to the world: the U.S. will respond when U.S. officials deem it essential–but was it essential?

Are only Americans outraged about innocent deaths to the extent of doing something about it? Other national leaders are acting as cheerleaders but not getting “into the game.”

Meanwhile, an assortment of U.S. politicians from across the political spectrum has joined in beating the war drums. But then, older politicians have always managed to find the guts to send younger men to fight their wars.

Are we to do what others are responsible to do? Isn’t the United Nations supposed to keep the peace, protect the innocent, and bring the bad guys to justice? Alternatively, doesn’t the pecking order demand that surrounding Muslim nations bring the dictator to justice? Of course, other Muslim leaders have bloody hands also. Does any sane person believe that Assad will be replaced by a devotee of peace, justice, and freedom after he is greeted by his 72 virgins in Paradise?

Events are taking place that I predict will escalate the war, eliminate the Christians, exclude any voice of reason, and engage Israel in constant confrontations. Assad is not a good guy but he is preferable to the alternative. He is a known entity and he has not been shelling Jews on the Golan Heights. A new Syrian strongman might break the treaty and the shelling of Israel could again become a daily event as in the past.

Will we see Damascus totally destroyed? What a tragedy to see this historical and biblical city in total ruins! Will the UN get involved and escalate the disturbance into a catastrophic event or will they help provide peace, protection, and prosperity? We may soon know the answer.

As ruthless a dictator as his father was, President Bashar al-Assad should be called Bashar the Butcher. While all people of good will want to see him assume room temperature, it is not wise for the U.S. to assume the role of paladin of the world. Those rebels in Syria without a doubt are Muslim extremists. Let them fight their own battles. The choice between the two sides is not a choice between good and evil but between much evil and more evil.

The U.S. does not have a horse in this race, but we do abhor the killing of innocent people. While Assad is a vicious dictator, he has permitted Christians to practice their faith and has kept relative peace until recent years. If Assad goes, the Christians will be totally destroyed in Syria. If he is deposed, Muslim fanatics will fill his chair. Most reasonable people prefer a sensitive, peaceful conservative but in the real world that is not going to happen.

The Syrian opposition is a mixture of fanatics, freedom lovers, and criminal opportunists. Incredibly, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for supporting them with “humanitarian aid.” We have seen this movie before. Non-thinkers praised the uprisings in Libya, Sudan, Bahrain, etc., and now we realize that we got much more than we wanted. Radical Muslims have been enabled and are now in control. Sharia law will be forced on the people in all Muslim-dominated nations. Turkey is going in that direction as I write.

Russia, China, and Iran are backing Syria’s dictator while Saudi Arabia is opposed to him and supports a new government in Syria, hoping that it will not be as friendly to Iran.

When former Saudi King Abdul-Aziz ibn Saud was on his deathbed, he warned his sons “to keep your eye on Syria” since anything good for Syria is considered bad for Saudi. While both Syria and Saudi Arabia are Muslim, the Saudis are of the Sunni fanatical Wahhabi sect plus their country is the location of Mecca (birthplace of Mohammed) and Medina. There are no churches of any kind in Saudi Arabia and even other Muslim sects such as the Shiites are without mosques in most major areas!

Syria is more secular than Saudi Arabia but Sunni Muslims are the majority religious group in both countries. There are about two million citizens in Damascus and 85% are Sunni Muslims that are served by about 2,000 mosques in the city. The Grand Mosque of Damascus is one of the largest, oldest, and holiest sites for Muslims.

Fanatical, committed Muslims are dangerous, devious, and deceitful people and we are fools to waltz into the crossfire. The free world should permit these countries to work out their own differences, remove their own totalitarian leaders, and worship however they choose. The U.S. can cheer the good guys (better guys) but we don’t have the money, personnel, or authority to get involved.

Damascus will be destroyed and while that will be a major disaster, it is more preferable than Dallas, Denver, or Detroit being destroyed. And don’t be deceived, if those on the streets of Damascus have their way, it will be an American city that will be a “ruinous heap.”

President Trump should stay out of Syria. Let “peaceful” Muslims take care of Assad and hang him after a public trial for using chemical gas. If Damascus is to be destroyed, let Muslims do it!

No one elected America as the world’s moral and humanitarian watchdog.

Damascus was first mentioned in Gen. 14 when Abraham pursued Arab kings who had captured his nephew Lot and others. Abraham chased them nearly to Damascus to rescue them. After 1000 B.C., King David took Damascus and subdued Syria, driving out the war chief Rezon keeping a large garrison there; however, after King Solomon ascended the throne and defected from God, Rezon harassed Solomon as long as Solomon ruled. Rezon founded the Kingdom of Damascus.

The Apostle Paul was born in Tarsus, Syria and was saved on the road to Damascus, escaped his enemies by being let down from the wall in a basket, and organized the first Christian church in Antioch.

Damascus is home to the Great Mosque, a massive mosque that boasts of possessing the head of John the Baptist, a shrine I have visited. The city has been dubbed the “pearl of the East” but that was not my experience. My major memory of Damascus is masses of people in packed streets, shoulder to shoulder. In my visits to their mosques and shopping areas the people were cordial; however, they did not learn much from the French (who controlled the area for 25 years ending in 1945) because the food and accommodations in the best hotels were atrocious.

Today, Syria is a mangled mess caused by tyrants, thugs, and terrorists and many Americans think the U.S. has a moral obligation to ride in, bugles blowing, and flags waving to clean up the mess providing a democracy (if not a republic) where freedom is the rule. But who put that heavy obligation on us? Is any other nation so obligated? Are we obligated to guarantee freedom everywhere in the world? Did Americans, who pay the bills, have any input into this moral appointment? If not, why not?

Just because President Woodrow Wilson took us into WW I to “make the world safe for democracy” does not obligate this generation to do the same, and may I remind you that we did not make the world safe for democracy. We only slowed tyranny for a while and the flawed and uneven Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919 was the cause célèbre for WW II that killed 60 million people! Twenty million more died of war-related disease and famine.

The question must be asked, “Should the U.S. spend its blood and money to do the job–even if it has been determined that we can be successful in doing so?” I am not convinced that we have a moral responsibility to distribute “democracies” around the world nor am I convinced that we can do so, especially in Muslim nations. Not only do I think we should not get involved in every national beerhall brawl, I don’t think we can solve the world’s problems militarily, financially, socially, or religiously. No one made us the world’s savior. We are struggling to save ourselves! That is not isolationism but independence.

Is it not reasonable that the nations in the area have the obligation to clean up the mess? After all, they are all Muslims and have the same heritage. While the surrounding Muslim nations want an end to the Syrian carnage, none are demanding the establishment of a democracy, let alone, a republic. The fact is that both are the antithesis to sharia. We are on a fool’s journey.

It is a major tragedy that about 500,000 people have died in Syria and 11,000,000 have been displaced (including internal displacement) causing major problems for European nations as they have been overrun with refugees. A corollary is the influx of terrorists mixed with innocent refugees that are attacking free people in France, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, etc. And yes, in the U.S.

Moreover, the United Nations is supposed to be the peacekeeping entity, not the United States. What has the UN done to ensure peace or at least safety in Syria? I should think UN personnel with character would resign in disgrace and return home on the next plane to their sending nations. They could get a job at customs, the post office, or manning complaint offices and live with dignity–not disappointment and disgrace.

Of course, the UN will not close down voluntarily since the officials have such cushy jobs and are from nations that cannot compare with the “good life” in America. The UN might be more productive if they moved their headquarters to the desert south of Amman or the empty space in the Saudi Arabia desert. Don’t hold your breath.

The 47 Muslim nations of the world could announce to all parties in the Middle East that they have carved out a safe zone in Syria and any incursion by tanks, personnel carriers, or planes will be destroyed. That way Syrians can at least flee to safety in their own nation without risking their lives during a trek to Europe. However, the Muslim leaders don’t have the spine to make the decision. After all, why should they when the U.S. always seems to be eager to ride to the rescue with flags waving and bugles blowing.

Syria is a maniacal, murderous, malodorous mess that should alarm the U.S. but not activate us. It calls for our attention but not our action. Proud, patriotic, even pious people have demanded we jump into that snake pit; however, we must be very wary of sincere patriots who want to kill people only because they feel a perceived or real threat to us or someone else!

Stay out of Syria. Let the Muslims take care of their own problems. After all, they made them.

The Secretary of Defense revealed last week that 200 special operation troops would be sent into Iraq and would participate in raids into Syria. Wait a minute, I thought the Iraqi war was over, or at least we had quit; however, we did leave 3,500 troops there. On Nov. 4 Obama said, “But you know I say what I mean and I mean what I say. I said I’d end the war in Iraq. I ended the war in Iraq.” But more troops will be sent!

Senators Graham and McCain want Obama to raise the total U.S. forces in Iraq to 10,000 and send an equal number to Syria! If Obama does that, I suggest that Graham and McCain cease beating the war drums and actually lead the first incursion. Old men make wars and young men (and women) die in them.

What will these new troops in Syria and Iraq do? Will they defend themselves? What are their limitations? What will happen in a confrontation with Russian troops? In early November the BBC reported that 10,000 Russian troops were in Syria and after the Paris attack, Putin authorized 150,000 more troops! If American troops are captured, will we send troops to rescue them?

On Nov. 24, the Turks shot down a Russian plane on the Syria-Turkey border and a Russian helicopter was shot down by the US backed Syrian rebels–the Free Syrian Army with what is thought to be an American supplied TOW missile. It gets worse as Russia’s Putin ordered their best missile defense system sent to the Russian airbase in Syria in retaliation for the destruction of their plane and pilot. Some U.S. experts are preaching, predicting–maybe promoting World War III.

Just to remind younger readers of another mistake we made: Following WW II, Vietnam was divided into the Communist North and the democratic South. In July of 1950, United States military involvement in Vietnam began as Democrat President Harry Truman authorized $15 million in military aid to the French in their struggle with communists in the north. A few advisors were authorized followed by tanks, planes, artillery, and other supplies to prosecute the war.

In January of 1955 Republican President Dwight Eisenhower sent military aid and offered to train the South Vietnamese Army. We were now on a slippery slope and it finally ended with a divided America; 47,244 Americans were killed and over 334,000 were wounded; 922 U.S. airplanes shot down; hundreds of villages leveled; and a high of 543,000 American troops in Vietnam. More than 2,400 POWs/MIAs were unaccounted for as of 1973. It was America’s longest war (15 years of combat) and our first defeat ending in 1973. Our government never had any intention of winning the war. Sadly, today Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand are still controlled by tyrants!

Nixon campaigned for president on “peace with honor” but there was no honor. America troops fled Saigon as Communist troops entered the city. U.S. helicopters lifted American Marines, embassy personnel, and South Vietnamese civilian workers (who were on the commies’ death list) from the roof of the American embassy. Film footage of desperate civilians hanging onto departing helicopters is the last shameful scene in a tragic war that started with a few advisors and trainers!

Now we have advisors and trainers in Syria! We’ve seen that movie before with Vietnamese subtitles. This time subtitles are in Arabic!

Syria is a snake pit with a bunch of snakes killing each other and the U.S. should stay out. The BBC News reported that “There are believed to be as many as 1,000 armed opposition groups in Syria, commanding an estimated 100,000 fighters.” It is a tangled mess that has no reasonable solution.

Syria’s dictator Bashar Assad is a Muslim hypocrite (as was his daddy), supported by Shi’ites, an efficient killer especially when cornered, and supported by Russia fighter jets, Iran, and the terrorist group Hezbollah. However, Assad has governed the nation and provided stability and protection to Christian churches.

Assad’s opponents in the civil war are a ragtag assortment of Islamic fanatics including the Jabbat al-Nusra terrorists, who will cut the throats of their co-belligerents as soon as the Assad regime falls or is pushed over. There are Iranian, Russian, and Syrian armies already fighting ISIS on the ground (thereby helping Assad) and French, Russian, and American jets fighting from the air. American jets are pounding Assad’s conglomerate army and Russian jets are fighting Assad’s enemies. So, America is hurting Assad while Russia helping Assad! Added to this crazy mix, the Israeli air force is also flying sorties from time to time.

Assad’s enemies like to be known as ISIL, meaning the Islamic State of Iraq and the Lavant. This refers to a region stretching from southern Turkey to Egypt that includes Lebanon, Syria, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Cyprus, and Jordan. The group’s stated goal is to restore an Islamic state, or caliphate, in this entire area. ISIL is the term used by the UN and the Obama administration and using it gives the terrorists more credibility as if they actually represent all those living in the Levant–from Turkey to Egypt. The use of the term also takes attention away from Obama’s failure in Iraq. In Obama’s commencement speech at West Point on June 19 he used ISIL 16 times thereby warning the mainstream media to go along with the farcical nomenclature.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claims to be a caliphate with religious, political, and military authority over all Muslims worldwide. It controls territory with 10 million people in Syria and Iraq and has changed its name to IS or Islamic State. Obama insists on using ISIL instead of ISIS when discussing the area. There is no difference whether ISIL, ISIS, or IS; they are the same–Muslim butchers.

The free world and the UN still haven’t received the message: there is no way to beat Islamists. We can blast a nation into the Stone Age but that won’t win the war. Fact: there will be perpetual conflict as long as there are Koranic Muslims down at the local mosque–any local mosque. We will be at war and living with terror to the end of the age! The next war could very well bury Western Civilization forever as well as the barbarians living on the Arabian Desert.

Furthermore, there is the issue of national sovereignty. Who gave America the authority to invade another nation? Do we believe in national sovereignty or not? At least Russia was invited into Syria and Israel can build a good case for their attacks. Do we believe in sovereignty for us but not for “them”? No one has even tried to justify this inconsistency.

Syria: Too little too late or too much too soon? Neither, the US should not have troops there. Let Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, etc., clean up their own mess. As I wrote in 2013, the US should stay out of Syria since it is a bridge into Hell. All factions in Syria are thugs, thieves, tyrants, or terrorists and they all pray toward Mecca.

The US Air Force Secretary has admitted that “ground forces” is a must in order to “occupy” and “govern” parts of Syria; but the US should not be interested in occupying or governing any other nation. We have no more right to be there than Mexico has a right to occupy and govern San Diego, Tucson, Las Cruces or Brownsville. We have no right to be there unless we declare war.

All the Muslim states in the area are enemies of Syria and Iran so I suggest that the Saudis, the Egyptians, the Jordanians, the Turks, etc., get together a massive army (Turkey has 500,000 troops in the barracks) and clean out their Muslim “brothers.” They can easily finance the operation with their oil money. They can show how ecumenical they are by rebuilding the homes of the Kurds and Christians. The US can share intelligence and strategy with the “good” guys but it is a Muslim fight.

Syria is a mess but it is not worth another American life or limb. The US has left enough American blood and limbs in that desert wasteland. The Muslims made the mess, now let them clean it up.

ISIS, ISIL, or IS (different terms for the same butchers) are monstrous Muslim maniacs with a mission–and without a conscience. Muslim terrorists take credit for the demise of the Soviet Union (rightly in my opinion) and have similar plans to destroy America. The humiliated Russians drove their tanks out of Afghanistan in 1989, and within two years, the Soviet Empire was history! That historic success in humiliating the powerful Soviet Empire encouraged Muslim terrorists in their plan to destroy America, the “Great Satan.”

It is said that Muslim terrorists have deployed nuclear weapons into the U.S. and are ready to explode them any day! Many major U.S. cities could be in rubble and in flames any day with a Muslim terrorist shouting into a cell phone: “Yes, America is burning. America is burning. Praise Allah!”

The network news program “60 Minutes” on September 7, 1997 reported an alarming story about claims made by the former Russian National Security Advisor, General Aleksander Labed. Labed revealed that the former Soviet Union had produced–then lost–about 100 “suitcase” nuclear bombs! Each bomb could be carried by one man and detonated by one person with 30 minutes notice yielding a blast equivalent to a thousand tons of TNT! General Labed was killed while riding in a Russian helicopter in 2002. Was it payback time?

Will Muslim terrorists explode bombs simultaneously in various major cities or hit one city, then threaten to explode other bombs unless the American government surrenders to Islam and accepts Islamic rule? If Americans see a major city in rubble with thousands of charred bodies lying in the streets, would there be demands for surrender or revenge? I suggest that every Muslim in America would have a target on his back and some Americans would consider any Middle Eastern person as fair game to be “taken out.”

I suggest that U.S. politicians get serious about terror today and be honest about what is ahead of us. They should be telling us to prepare for disaster: food, water, bomb shelters, escape routes, etc. Peaceful Muslims must also get serious today, and report known terrorists to the Feds, vigorously condemn the killers, and wave the American flag as they sing, “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy.”

But frankly, it is too late to close the barn door since the horses are galloping down the road. We have been soft rather than sensible; weak rather than wise; mild rather than militant; and relaxed rather than resolute. When the bombs explode, all bets are off. A reign of terror may ensue, and the America we know will be gone forever.

Talk show hosts have asked me if my message causes people to panic, and I always reply that I am trying to make people be awake and aware without being alarmed. However, at this time in the crisis, maybe it is time to be alarmed! No, not irresponsible, out of control panic. Just the everyday kind of alarm that makes your blood run hot, your adrenaline flow, your hands sweat profusely and your mouth as dry as an oil well I invested in.

In a few days or weeks, or months everyone who has not prepared for disaster will panic. I would like for you to realize that you may have already waited too long to properly prepare, and if you wait much longer, it will be too late to buy gold, guns, and groceries. Everyone will rush for the doors at the same time, and you and your family will be crushed. The name of the game will be survival, only survival. Forget the job since it will be gone. Your Social Security or pension check? Don’t count on it. Protection from local authorities? Probably not. You will be on your own.

The fuses are lit and America and the world are holding their breath thinking, “Paris today, Washington tomorrow?”

The President of France and the President of the U.S.A. each has one major job—to keep their nation safe. In the last 50 years, many nations have developed nuclear weapons. During the cold war (1945 to 1991) with the Soviet Union, the citizens lived in a strained but fairly safe world with both countries’ huge inventories of nuclear bombs. We lived under the M.A.D. doctrine which stood for Mutually Assured Destruction. The reasoning was simple, even primitive: You bomb us and we will bomb you. You bomb us even more and we step up our next bombing of you—until the world is a wasteland. It worked. There were battles from time to time in Korea, Vietnam, etc., but neither side was stupid enough to use nuclear weapons.

It was the deterrence principle that a well-armed nation, determined to live safely, would ensure peace. The thinking was that no sane national leader would jeopardize their own security, even existence, by launching an attack on a power that could and would destroy them.

But that is now passé. Maniacal Muslim monsters don’t care if they live or die nor do they feel any concern for their people. In fact, the possibility of being blasted into eternity with a nuclear bomb is somewhat intriguing to them, enhanced at the thought of being welcomed in Paradise by 72 green-eyed virgins. I think their “welcome” will be the surprise of eternity for them.

If we are going to have any sense of security in a world dominated by fools, fanatics, and fascists then we must crawl into the minds of Muslim fanatics and try to “work their system.” I think I have succeeded in doing that and might be able to suggest a kind of M.A.D. program that would guarantee an unsteady but mutual peace. We should issue a threat to the Muslim world that Mecca and Medina will be bombed with pig poop, pig’s entrails, bacon grease, etc., if radical Muslims attack us again. That may not be the most intellectual or genteel suggestion; however, it may be a more practical, profound, and productive proposal than what has come from the Pentagon or prissy politicians.

The President (and all major foreign leaders) should speak to the whole world before the United Nations and declare:

“We Americans want to live in peace; however, there are some who teach that they will someday rule the world whether through personal conversion, civil political activity or military control. We will not permit that to occur. We are rather satisfied with our nation as it is. Therefore, from this date, supported by my Joint Chiefs of Staff and the U.S. Congress, the U.S. has made the following decision:

“If and when any Muslim nation or Muslim group attacks the U.S.. (excepting obvious small, independent, maverick attacks), U.S. bombers will immediately fly, at my command, to Saudi Arabia and bomb the two holy cities of Mecca and Medina. However, our payload will be pig’s entrails, discarded hog meat, and tons of pig dung (provided enthusiastically by pig farmers in Iowa) that will saturate both cities from city limit to city limit. The land, buildings, and any people there will be totally contaminated.

“Muslims will not permit any non-Muslim to enter Mecca or Medina; however, after an attack upon America, Porky Pig, Miss Piggy, and their friends are coming to town. You can count on it. That is one promise I promise to keep.

“We don’t desire any deaths or injuries; however, researchers in U.S., Denmark, Netherlands, and Canada have discovered that the ‘nostrils of 49% of pigs and 45% of pig farmers,’ contain traces of the superbug MRSA that is devastating people worldwide. ‘Piglets had the highest rates of infection and in fact, every single pig under the age of 12 weeks harboured MRSA colonies.’ Therefore, there will be potential injury to citizens who do not flee the cities although MRSA infection is not as permanent and deadly as nuclear weapons.

“After thoroughly bombing both cities with pig entrails, one of our planes, carrying a piggybacked block-buster bomb, will put it down on top of the “holy” Ka’ba leaving, if I may quote Jesus Christ, not one stone left standing upon another. This is not desirable but it is better than bombing the two cities back to the Stone Age killing a million people.

“We have no desire to kill or injure any person, however, this is a commitment the American people have made through their representatives and we will not back off. There will be no further delay, discussion, or debate. After an attack upon us and we have confirmed that the perpetrators are Muslims, the pig poop will plummet.

“In kindness, we have made this decision hoping that no Muslim leader would want to stand before Allah and be held accountable for the total destruction of the Ka’ba and the contamination of the two holy cities of Islam.

“Our desire is to provide some assurance of a peaceful existence for American citizens— Muslims and non-Muslims. We expect all Muslim leaders to broadcast this promise to every Muslim on earth to assure mutual peace.
“Thank you and may God bless the United States of America.”

Now, I am a very simple person. If I lived in Mecca or Medina and America were attacked, I would head for the hills, or rather the desert. After the “bombing,” the Muslim religion would not permit citizens of the two holy cities to clean up the pig poop but I know some Baptists who would do it for $100.00 per shovelful, plus expenses. Yes, it would be costly and it would take many years to decontaminate the cities but oil at $40.00 per barrel would finance the cleanup.

As I started this column I placed my tongue firmly in check but as I progressed, I realized that my recommendation is original, innovative, inexpensive, and workable and after all, it makes more sense than what is coming out of the think tanks and the Pentagon. So I released my tongue to the norm. Let’s try it. It sure can’t hurt.

As world famous philosopher Porky Pig, a childhood friend of mine used to say, “Tha, tha, that’s all folks.”

In fact, brutality as punishment goes back to the famous 18th century B.C. Code of Hammurabi and it may be worthwhile to note that Ham was the King of Babylon–near Bagdad, Iraq! The Hammurabi punishment for theft was the cutting off of a finger or a hand. A man’s lower lip was cut off if he kissed a married woman. Defamation was punished by cutting out the tongue. If a house collapsed killing the owner because the builder did not make it strong enough, the builder was put to death. Adultery was punished with the death of both parties by drowning, but if the husband was willing to pardon his wife, she was spared. Death was the penalty for hiding a slave. Pretty tough laws. The Mosaic code of the Hebrew nation was much more lenient.

Decapitation has been used since the beginning of time as proved by incidents recorded in the Bible. The thinking person knows that just because something is recorded in the Bible does not mean the act is recommended. The first incident in ancient literature is in Judges 5:26 (about 1250 B.C.) when an enemy of Israel, Canaanite commander Sisera, was killed. An Israeli woman drove a nail through his head while he was sleeping, then beheaded him. The message: don’t mess with Jewish women.

For centuries heads have been used for messages for proving a death, for collecting a ransom, for punishment. Ancient Greeks sent messages to dead relatives and friends by giving a message to a slave, then cutting off his head. If the Greeks forgot something, they sent another decapitated slave as a P.S.

In I Sam. 17:49-51 young David accepted Goliath’s challenge and David succeeded in knocking him down and out with his sling shot. David then took his sword and beheaded him before he could regain consciousness and carried the head to King Saul as proof of his accomplishment. David also collected on the king’s promise to give his daughter in marriage. David took Goliath’s head and got the girl’s hand.

In I Sam 31:8, 9 Saul, Israel’s first king, was found slain on the battlefield where he was beheaded by the Philistines. His body was nailed to the city wall and his head was displayed in the pagan temple of Dagon. That was the Philistines’ way of saying, “Our god is bigger than your God.” However, after about 3,500 years, most of my readers never heard of Dagon!

The New Testament reveals how John the Baptist was beheaded because he preached against King Herod taking his brother’s wife. Not much chance of modern preachers getting beheaded since most don’t do any confronting of anyone for anything at any time.

Muslims are to be blamed for originating things such as making female sexual mutilation a religious observance, temporary marriages, the burka, modern terrorism, and their fanatical religion but beheadings cannot be laid at their feet. However, they are using the gruesome practice to strike terror in everyone, friends and foes. They are saying: “Don’t mess with us. We are invincible. You will end up like this.”

ISIS uses a small, dull knife to produce a terror effect rather than a sharp sword or, better yet, an automatic rifle that would be quicker and far less messy. The American-trained Iraqi army fled from the horror of the bold, brash, beheading bandits. And there may be something of the area’s ancient culture that promotes decapitation since there are Assyrian (Nineveh–Iraq) carvings showing the king removing a victim’s head almost 3000 years ago. Since television was not available at the time, the butchers used stone wall carvings to depict their King, Sennerachib, using a short knife to saw off the head of a kneeling prisoner. All that’s missing is a cell phone camera to send the images to the world.

The Assyrians were adept at warfare using the latest in iron weapons, battering rams, three-man chariots, horse-drawn tanks, etc. They purposely sought to terrify their opponents by gouging out eyes, ripping out tongues, cutting off ears, noses, sex organs; skinning them alive, and beheading. Soldiers competed with each other as to who could acquire the most heads. Children were tortured and their flesh was sliced off and fed to wolves, dogs, etc. Now you know why Jonah was not too excited about preaching to them. He didn’t want God to spare them.

Beheading of prisoners was also done in Egypt as drawings show Pharaoh Ramses II grabbing prisoners representing three rival countries, a Syrian, Nubian, and Libyan by their hair bringing their necks up to a good angle for the ax he’s holding–whop goes the head.

However, for Islam, it is much more than using terror to terrorize their enemies and keep their followers on the reservation. Beheading is a religious duty as they follow the clear teaching in Sarah 8:12 of the Koran: “I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.” That does not reflect a “personal struggle with evil” or self-defense. It is a command to behead unbelievers. Muslims read this as a “divine” command and carry it out with gusto!

President Obama absolved Muslims of grotesque killings by saying on national television, that “ISIL is not Islamic.” Of course, he was wrong which seems to be a habit especially when Islam is an issue. After all, the terrorists say they are Muslims, attend mosques, dress like Muslims, pray toward Mecca like Muslims, talk like Muslims, raise their children to be Muslims, so of course, they are Muslims. It is embarrassing to have the leader of the free world make such a stupid statement. Everyone knows he is being politically correct, i.e. dishonest.

After British aid worker David Haines became the third Western hostage to be decapitated by Muslim terrorists, Britain’s immigration minister made a point of visiting a London mosque and declared that the beheadings “had nothing to do with Islam.” However, sane, honest, informed people know it had everything to do with Islam.

After a lady was beheaded in Oklahoma, President Obama sent a reprehensive to the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, the mosque where the beheader, Alton Nolen, attended. Obama sent a special message thanking them for their “service.” That alone is enough to require his impeachment.

No, Muslims did not originate beheadings but they have made it front page news and proved to all honest people that they are brutish, brash, bloody barbarians.

In recent years there has been talk of an “American Hiroshima” where many American cities would experience nuclear explosions either on one day or over succeeding days! U.S. officials know nuclear suitcase bombs were purchased from break-a-way rebels in the old Soviet Union. If major American cities were destroyed with millions dead, it would be the end of the greatest civilization in man’s history! Could that be the reason the Bible does not refer to America whereas minor nations are mentioned? I would think that a nation as impressive as America would be hinted at in Scripture, but not so.

You turn on your television set some morning to discover that our major cities are in flames with hundreds of thousands dead and millions dying a slow death from radiation. Would you have a job after that? Would you even care about a job? Your first and major thought would be survival. You would be delighted that you bought a big bag of beans and a bag of rice for your pantry.

It is possible that Muslim terrorists will detonate nuclear bombs in some of our major cities or they might set off a bomb in one city then blackmail us with other bombs: “Surrender to Muslim sharia law and live under an American caliphate or tomorrow bombs will go off in two other cities.” What do you think national politicians would do? Ladies, how do you think you would like wearing a burka? While a burka will not permit your belly button or breasts to be revealed, it will reveal your eyes—only your eyes!

The nuclear bombing of only one U.S. city would affect the world economy and make the Great Depression look like a bounced check. Insurance companies would go into bankruptcy or into the courts to refuse claim payments and banks would be closed. You might try to call the toll-free number to sell your mutual funds only to hear a constant busy signal. You might talk to your broker only to find that both of you are broke.

The U.S. Government would be bankrupt and renege on its financial obligations. Tax payments to the IRS would plummet as the cost of rescue and recovery soar into the stratosphere. Already billions of dollars in the hole, the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, an agency that guarantees pensions of major corporations, would go belly up. So would Social Security. Everyone would be on his own.

Some are fearful that the followers of that “peaceful” religion of Islam will go high tech and set off an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) device resulting in wiping out all U.S. electronic devices but keeping our superstructure intact. Former CIA chief James Woolsey testified before a Congressional committee as reported on May 2, 2005 that the EMP could have “devastating consequences.”

If all electronic devices and electronically powered equipment were terminated because of the effects of an EMP device, then the U.S. would quickly grind to a halt. It might be more devastating than a major nuclear bomb! Think what it would mean: no elevators to take people to the upper floors of apartment and office buildings; no air conditioning; no heat; no lights; no subways; no stop and go lights in any city; no telephones, no radio or television (Okay, might be an improvement); no computers, no cell phones, no air travel, and many other problems. America would be back in the 1800s again!

Furthermore, no EMP would have a return address! So against whom do we retaliate? In addition, if all our electronic systems are down, how do we mount an effective response without planes, guidance systems for missiles, etc.? Maybe you are reading this column in the dark, and that is where our military may be at that hour.

I hope you are not reading this column in a dark bomb shelter. It is not melodramatic to say that American streets could become dark, deserted, and dangerous places as anarchy reigns. To my critics who accuse me of crying wolf, I would remind them that the wolf did eventually appear and devoured the sheep!

I can almost hear the approaching hoof beats of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse in the distance. I am sure glad I know Christ in the forgiveness of my sins.
