By Don Boys, Ph.D.

Well, it’s February so it’s Black History Month. During this month we will hear of the great accomplishments of legitimate Blacks as it should be since they made a lasting and impressive contribution to America’s success. However, unprincipled, insecure Blacks will embarrass honest Blacks maybe to the point of blushing. In trying to give Blacks heroes, they often deal in speculation and mythology to give Blacks a pat on the back when they speak glowingly of “great black civilizations” that never existed.

I will use this month to give a true and balanced perspective to reality—praise where praise is due and correction where necessary. After all, everyone should be interested in truth even if it hurts at times. Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  But He did not promise it would always be accepted.

No sane person defends slavery, but you would not know that when listening to non-thinking bigots who maintain the defense of the Civil War equates to the defense of slavery.

There is not a person alive in the U.S. that was a slave or anyone alive who kept slaves. No thoughtful person agrees with the collective guilt theory. Had I lived in Georgia during the Civil War, I would have done what Robert E. Lee did. I would have fought with the South even though, like Lee (who freed his inherited slaves in 1862), I disagree with, even abhor, slavery.

General Lee did not defend slavery, but he did defend the right of a state to decide for itself about the issue and about the right to secede from the Union. And few historians would suggest that the original thirteen colonies joined into a union with the knowledge that it would be treason to change their minds. And there is no legal or historical doubt that a state had a legal right to secede. There would have been no Union if it had not been understood that a state could leave once it joined.

New York, Virginia, and Rhode Island made joining the Union contingent on being able to leave. Their position was: peacefully if we can; forcefully if we must.  Leave the Union.

During the war of 1812, more than one Northern state threatened to secede and refused to send troops to fight that war. No one accused them of being illegal because all informed people knew the states had the legal right to leave the union that they had entered voluntarily.

Moreover, it would have been better to have two successful, friendly nations rather than kill over 600,000 men—and destroy the South and deplete the North. While that position could be defended in the 1800s, it cannot, in my opinion, be defended today. The uncivil war was fought (and won by the North), and so much time has passed with us surviving financial disasters and numerous wars, it would not be wise to seek dissolution of the Union today.

While I would like to see California severed from the Union like deadly cancer, it would not be wise, in my opinion, for that to happen. I have noticed that the hypocrites on the left do not bring up the “one nation, indivisible” argument as it relates to present-day secession. They are very critical of the southern states who seceded but do not make the same argument for California in our day. They are hypocrites as usual.

Of course, slavery was not the main issue for at least a year into the war.  It was taxes, state nullification of federal laws, and southerners fighting to keep the northerners out of their land. It is ludicrous to think that southern boys left their womenfolk at home unprotected with crops and cattle in the fields as they marched north with flags waving and bugles blowing for the purpose of guaranteeing about 3% of rich southern farmers the right to own slaves. Some southern boys were a little slow but not that slow.

Additionally, Lee was concerned about releasing thousands of slaves (without education, ability, life experience, and social skills) into a society damaged, disjointed, and almost destroyed by the War of Northern Aggression. Think: General Sherman’s almost 300-mile scorched earth march from Atlanta to Savannah.

Sherman’s 66,000-man army wrecked 300 miles of railroad and numerous bridges and miles of telegraph lines. It seized 5,000 horses, 4,000 mules, 13,000 head of cattle, and unknown numbers of chickens, turkeys, sheep, and hogs from civilians. They stole as much bread and potatoes as they could carry. What they couldn’t carry, they burned. They confiscated 9.5 million pounds of corn and 10.5 million pounds of fodder and destroyed numerous cotton gins and mills. Sherman expressed his desire to “make old and young, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war.” Very principled Yankee!

It is interesting that Grant’s family had slaves (for whom he was responsible), and he did not release them until after the war! Should he be on the list of offensive figures to be removed and vilified? Grant did allow freedom to his personal slave in 1859, although he could have sold him for $700, a tidy sum in those days. Moreover, Grant was always in need of money, which made granting freedom to his slave even more admirable. Some Yankees have done commendable things.

However, in a letter to his father on May 6, 1861, Grant’s disregard for Blacks was obvious: “A few decisive victories in some of the southern ports will send the secession army howling and …. negroes will depreciate so rapidly in value that no body will want to own them …. The nigger will never disturb this country again.” I suppose we should demand that they tear down all statues of Grant and remove his photo from the White House–and, as an act of public service, I will accept all fifty-dollar bills containing his offensive photo!

It seems every relationship between the white and black races always has the vile reality of slavery in the background; one of Lee’s letters to his wife is relevant. He wrote in 1856, “In this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution, is a moral & political evil in any Country.” He added that slavery was “a greater evil to the white man than to the black race” in the United States.

After reflecting on his comment, I agree with him. While slavery has been a reality since man’s earliest days and has been defended by the world’s most esteemed philosophers, including many professing Christians, slaveholding showed man’s evil propensity and fallen nature. Of course, slavery harmed and destroyed thousands of people, and that can never be justified; however, there were some residual benefits from slavery. My boyhood idol, Booker T. Washington, strongly believed that was true.

Even Cassis Clay, better known as Muhammad Ali, who fought George Foreman in Zaire for the world heavyweight boxing title, realized his advantages because his ancestors were brought to America. Ali won the fight, and upon returning to the United States, he was asked by a reporter, “Champ, what did you think of Africa?” Ali replied, “Thank God, my granddaddy got on that boat!” Only a fool, a fanatic, or a falsifier would disagree.

Honest, informed people will recognize that there was wrong on both sides of the war, but the war is over, and the North won. Nevertheless, I refuse to permit northern hypocrites to rewrite history and denigrate everything southern and paint us all with the broad brush of bigotry. There was bigotry, hatred, and malice on both sides, just as there was courage, honor, and commitment, as reflected in the statues erected by both sides throughout the south.

To sustain a sane, safe, and stable society, we should treat all people fairly as originally created in the image of God with no special treatment for anyone because of their race or religion!

But then, no radical leftist will agree to “no special treatment” for Blacks, women, or the homosexual crowd.

Blacks Should Choose Their Heroes More Carefully! https://donboys.cstnews.com/blacks-should-choose-their-heroes-more-carefully https://donboys.cstnews.com/blacks-should-choose-their-heroes-more-carefully#respond Fri, 04 Sep 2020 15:20:30 +0000 http://donboys.cstnews.com/?p=2646 In recent years, many Blacks have made heroes out of thugs, thieves, and thespians simply because black leaders wanted to use the notoriety of famous Blacks in the drive for improvement of black civil rights. It is a fact that such folly is dishonest, disgraceful, and dishonorable to legitimate civil rights. In recent years, non-thinking Blacks have made heroes out of thugs like George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and others who were killed while resisting arrest.

It is normal for each entity—Indians, Whites, Blacks, preachers, teachers, philosophers, etc., to idolize people they look upon as their own kind. Of course, heroes are often chosen who are not heroes at all—more like zeros. I thought of this recently during the protests across America. I realized that we usually jump too quickly to identify with people who echo our own beliefs, and those people are often too flawed to hold up to children without qualifying our recommendation.

Many well-known Blacks and Whites are held up as people to be emulated even though they lived very wicked lives and destroyed themselves by making the wrong decisions as to drugs, education, religion, and associates. Frankly, there is no excuse for that since there are so many Blacks who made an impressive contribution that would be ideal heroes.

Many Blacks have set records and had major accomplishments in athletics yet were tarnished persons whose lives no one should emulate. I can understand why Muhammad Ali is considered a hero. Ali may have been the greatest boxer of all time; however, it is not much of a sport to try to knock out the brains of a man.

Ali was a draft dodger, Black Muslim, serial fornicator, and outspoken, rabid segregationist.

He told the media, “We don’t want to live with the white man; that’s all.” And concerning interracial marriage: “No intelligent black man or black woman in his or her right black mind want white boys or white girls comin’ to their homes, schools, and churches to marry their black sons and daughter to produce little, pale half-white, green-eyed, blond-headed Negroes.”

Are the hypocrites in and out of BLM demanding the cities change the streets named for Ali?

On a British television show, I heard Ali say that bluebirds fly together; red birds fly together, buzzards fly together. And “Blacks are more comfortable with other blacks.” The British interviewer was almost speechless. Indeed, Ali’s religious beliefs at the time included the notion that the white man was “the devil.”

The London Daily Mail quoted Ali’s son, who opined of his famous father, “when it came to his private life, his morals were those of an alley cat. The way he treated his first three wives and neglected some of his nine (known) children was frankly disgraceful.”

Ali had nine children by four different wives and two other relationships, and his large family has split the loot that was left—more than $80 million.

Muhammad was an incredible athlete; however, he was a very flawed individual with occasional indications of courage and commitment, but not much character. Why is he honored by Whites and Blacks, yet Strom Thurman, George Wallace, and David Duke are hated for their segregationist views?

Liberals are the biggest hypocrites in the world.

Louis Farrakhan is a black racist who has clearly stated his hatred for Jews and all Whites, yet the race-baiters pretend he is a gentleman with whom one can have dinner and a polite conversation. And hypocrites in the media refuse to hold white and black liberals to account for their close association with Screwy Louie. He’s called Screwy Louie because of his insistence that he is constantly protected by a vast flying object and scores of smaller flying saucers.

Why would any thinking black or white person consider that nut case a hero?

Abolitionist John Brown, in the mid-1800s, was a white wacko, killer, and thief, made into a hero by Unitarians in New England. After he and his five sons dragged five slavery sympathizers out of their cabins in “Bleeding Kansas,” they hacked them to death. John then moved back east to form a “provisional government” of the United States, and he was chosen commander-in-chief. He also planned to create an area in the Maryland and Virginia mountains to be a stronghold for escaped slaves. His plan was to convince well-to-do, self-hating Whites to finance a war between Whites and Blacks.

Surely, no sane white people would come near such a nut case, but they already had. Some famous New England white leaders had supported his “work” in Kansas. The group, in addition to Brown and his boys, was called the “Secret Six.” They were some of New England’s brightest! Men like physician Samuel Gridley Howe, industrialist George Stearns, journalist Franklin B. Sanborn, ministers Thomas Wentworth Higginson and Theodore Parker—all highly placed and respected men—known as “useful idiots.”

These men financed Brown’s plan to attack the Federal Armory at Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now, West Virginia). With 16 white men and 5 Blacks, they took the armory and held 60 leading citizens hostage. The first person killed in this attempt at freeing the Negro was a free black railroad worker who was shot in the back at the railroad station.

The armory was stocked with weapons and ammunition that Brown planned to give to escaped slaves as they joined his rebellion. They didn’t rebel. Brown’s group held out all the next day and night against the local militia but surrendered the following day when Colonel Robert E. Lee and a few marines attacked. Brown was wounded, and two of his sons were killed along with eight others in the “army of liberation.”

Brown was tried for murder and treason and died on the gallows in what is now Charles Town, West Virginia. One of the town militiamen who observed the execution was John Wilkes Booth, who later had his time on the world stage.

It is shocking and scandalous that anyone, white or black, would consider Brown anything but a nut case, yet he was financed by New England’s elite. He does not qualify as a hero simply because he supported the anti-slavery movement. This speaks to how people are supporting racist, radical, revolutionary Black Lives Matter, Antifa, Nation of Islam, etc.

People who support unsavory, unlawful, and unhinged extremists are facilitators of their evil deeds. Every responsible leader should clearly denounce BLM, Antifa, and the Nation of Islam.

Nat Turner was a black slave in Virginia who claimed to be a Baptist preacher and felt destined for greatness. His parents considered him a prophet and encouraged him in his “ministry.” They were convinced of that because of unusual marks on his head and breast! Turner reported seeing spirits fighting in the sky, and he allegedly heard voices. Being a “prophet,” he communicated “revelations” to fellow slaves. I don’t need to emphasize that these are signs of a nut case, not a prophet.

Then, when Mount St. Helens erupted on August 21, 1831, nearly 3,000 miles away, the atmospheric conditions convinced Turner that God wanted him to kill his white enemies! About seven months earlier on February 12, a solar eclipse convinced him it was time to do what he was ordained to do. The eruption in August was his sign so he and other slaves attacked and killed 55 white people, including men, women, and children–some as they slept. One victim was a baby in its cradle. Some of the victims were beheaded, including children. The killers used axes, clubs, swords, and guns.

It is believed that none of the deadly weapons were registered.

Armed citizens confronted the attackers, and Turner was captured, tried, and executed by hanging after hiding for two months. He was flayed, beheaded, and quartered. It seems the slaveholders wanted to send a message to other slaves.

It is understandable that witless, guilt-ridden Whites and gullible Blacks seek to make every Black a hero, but surely, no sane people think Turner was anything but a monster.

It seems many Blacks are careless in choosing their heroes. However, black leaders, especially those who insist on telling the whole truth about Confederate heroes and founding fathers, should be cautious about holding up killers and Communists to be emulated by young Blacks! Any Black who supports BLM, Antifa, Nation of Islam, and similar hate groups should repent in sackcloth and ashes.

Why don’t some Blacks choose more principled heroes, rather than bottom feeders? But then, many Whites do the same going right to the bottom.

No, it’s not in our genes; it’s in our choices.

Stop the Politically Correct Renaming of Airports! https://donboys.cstnews.com/stop-the-politically-correct-renaming-of-airports https://donboys.cstnews.com/stop-the-politically-correct-renaming-of-airports#respond Sat, 30 Mar 2019 05:06:19 +0000 http://donboys.cstnews.com/?p=2322 Leftists in southern California have their knickers in a knot after a recent Los Angeles Times opinion piece resurfaced of John Wayne’s Playboy interview of 1971. Most people only read the Times article about the interview but I read the original, comprehensive interview. While Wayne had a dirty mouth, he was not the dumb cowboy depicted by his critics. He had many very thoughtful comments on America but three or four comments got him in trouble—50 years later.

They were so bad, non-thinking progressives want his name removed from the airport in Orange County. However, other progressives are tolerant of a black racist who has an airport named for him.

Wayne stated, “I don’t want somebody like Angela Davis inculcating an enemy doctrine in my kids’ minds.” The interviewer then declared that Davis claimed the reason that people wanted to revoke her teaching credentials was because she is black. I don’t suppose it could be her involvement with the Black Power Movement, her Communist Party membership, support for Castro, her support for the “Palestinians” and antagonism toward Israel, and her part in an aborted prison escape where four men were killed.

She was on the FBI Most Wanted List and spent 18 months in prison awaiting trial for her part in the attempted prison escape. She was tried and acquitted of all charges.

So was O. J. Simpson.

She was a professor (now retired) at University of California Santa Cruz filling the minds of youth with all kinds of leftwing poppycock. Wayne was responding to her teaching at a tax supported institution.

Wayne declared, “With a lot of blacks, there’s quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightfully so. But we can’t all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people.”

Keeping in mind that the interview took place in 1971, Wayne said he “believe[s] in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility.”

Davis can work wherever she wants if she can con someone in authority to hire her. I would never hire her because of her vile unrepentant past and her reprehensible present. All institutions that are taxpayer-funded should use discretion in how they spend tax dollars. Wayne was right: Blacks or Whites should not be rewarded with a lucrative position especially if the person’s beliefs are dangerous to society.

Wayne was saying that if people want to be leaders, they must display leadership qualities.

Wayne also said that black people should take “tests” to prove that they are “sufficiently equipped” to attend college. I find no fault with that statement. Everyone should have to pass an entrance exam. But black racists and guilt-ridden Whites will find fault.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Wayne’s disparaging remarks in the Playboy interview about homosexuals, using a homophobic slur. Referring to Hollywood films, he suggested that Americans are “completely fed up with these perverted films.” When asked to elaborate on “perverted” films, he mentioned Easy Rider and Midnight Cowboy. He added, “Wouldn’t you say the wonderful love of those two men in ‘Midnight Cowboy,’ a story about two fags, qualifies?” Well, since the homosexual crowd often use “queer,” “fag,” etc., then I find no fault in him.

Moreover, like all societies in history, all religions, and all sane people have believed sexual love is between people of the opposite sex. Anything else is perversion—not hatred, just truth that can’t be changed by any court, legislature, or dictator.

The author of the Times’ piece opined of Wayne’s indiscretions, “It certainly undermines any justification for his name and image to adorn a civic facility.” Ipso facto, the airport should not bear his name.

That is his opinion, but not a certified fact.

So, the Orange County Board of Supervisors is going to dump Wayne for being insensitive, homophonic, and a bigot.

But progressives in middle America are not as sensitive to rooting out the bad guys if they are Muslim. A Black Muslim bigot in Louisville has an airport with his name.

Muhammad Ali was a notorious racist but I’m not supposed to say that. If Wayne’s name should be removed from the California airport then Ali’s name should be removed from the Kentucky airport. Everyone will agree with that except the hypocrites.

Muhammad’s offenses were far more egregious than Wayne’s and no white man would have streets and airports named after him if he espoused views about Blacks as Ali did about Whites.

Muhammad was a rabid segregationist although I don’t think Louisville’s airport has segregated restrooms and water fountains. Ali opined in a 1975 Playboy interview that couples who were in black/white relationships deserved to be killed! He said, “A black man should be killed if he’s messing with a white woman.” And in relation to interracial marriage: “No intelligent black man or black woman in his or her right black mind wants white boys and white girls coming to their homes to marry their black sons and daughters.”

It was the most venomous interview I have ever read and it is shocking that anyone would consider naming anything except the county dump after him.

I never heard any other rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth segregationist advocate murder.
The International Business Times quoted him saying, “We who follow the teachings of Elijah Muhammad don’t want to be forced to integrate. Integration is wrong. We don’t want to live with the white man; that’s all.”

On a British television show, I heard Ali say that blue birds fly together; red birds fly together, buzzards fly together. And Blacks are more comfortable with other Blacks. The British interviewer was almost speechless. Indeed, Ali’s beliefs included the notion that the white man was “the devil.”

At Howard University he gave his popular “Black Is Best” speech to 4,000 cheering students and community leaders, on behalf of the Black Power Committee, a student protest group. “We look at Miss World, we see white. We look at Miss Universe, we see white. Even Tarzan, the king of the jungle in black Africa, he’s white!” He then closed with a verse written by  Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam–“A White Man’s Heaven is a Black Man’s Hell.”

Muhammad said, “…in the Islamic world, the man’s the boss and the woman stays in the background. She don’t want to call the shots….They obey us.” Where were the feminists at that time? Why did no one demand he be drawn and quartered?

He also told Playboy, “You hear about Catholic sisters—but they do a lot of screwing behind doors.” That didn’t play well at the Vatican but I didn’t hear anyone complain about religious discrimination. But when I tell the truth about the Koran then I’m a bigot for quoting the facts about jihad, sharia, and sexual mutilation of little girls.

Almost everyone praised Ali’s “courage” for refusing to fight for his country (or serve as a non-combatant) during the Vietnam War, suggesting that he was a very principled man; however, few are willing to discuss his call for murder and his lack of self-discipline when it came to sexual affairs.

The London Daily Mail bravely opined, “when it came to his private life his morals were those of an alley cat. The way he treated his first three wives and neglected some of his nine (known) children was frankly disgraceful.”

I am willing to concede that Wayne was at least insensitive according to present standards but they should leave both airports as they are. At least, the hypocrites should demand equal treatment even though Ali was far more offensive than Wayne. Let’s all learn from any real mistakes and move on. Stop whining and looking for ways to be offended. After all, Wayne “killed” thousands of Indians, Japanese soldiers, and others while Ali actually advocated killing real people.

Moreover, let’s stop requiring people from the past to meet the present, modern, exalted progressive values. You know, values like killing little babies even after they are born; pretending same-sex couples are a family; and pretending a man in a dress is a woman even with his massive shoulders, prominent Adam’s apple, large knuckles, and husky baritone voice.

Leave both airports alone.
