I have been accused of being unreasonable, unkind, and even unchristian to my opposition of amnesty and sanctuary cities; however, the accusation is not based on solid reasoning or the Scripture. Leftist Evangelicals misrepresent the Bible to make it fit their pathetic, perverted, progressive, and political positions.

Bleating heart Evangelicals want us to believe that we should have open borders because the undocumented aliens are trying to escape tyranny, gangs, and poverty, so our nation should overlook their illegal entry into our nation. After all, we are a Christian nation. No, first of all, only people can become Christians; however, a nation can become Christianized or influenced by the Bible. Furthermore, most of the enthusiasts for open borders and amnesty purposefully confuse an individual’s responsibility with a nation’s obligation.

Everyone who wants to understand ancient literature knows he or she must discern who wrote it, to whom it was written, and when it was written.

Trump’s religious critics are not asking those questions. Exodus 23:9 is often used by the Bible-twisters to support their cause; however, they use a defective hermeneutic to construct their false anti-Trump position. “Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.” That passage is dealing with a person’s obligation, not national obligations.

Most of those Evangelicals who quote that passage know that but are being less than honest to establish a very shaky political principle.

It is easy to prove my contention about this being a personal obligation. Verse 3 of that chapter warns the ancient Jews (and us today), “Neither shalt thou countenance (give approval) a poor man in his cause.” Moses was warning us about showing favor to a person because of his condition, whether rich or poor.

Believers must be ever vigilant not to be swayed by emotions but by justice. The time-honored truism is, “Let justice be done, though the heavens should be dissolved.”

I heard one of the great evangelists of the last generation say, “Do right though the stars fall from Heaven.” The illegal aliens have not done right. They resolutely broke our laws and crashed our gates, and forced themselves in front of others who have followed our laws and procedures. There are five million people who are waiting in line legally, but illegal aliens refuse to wait. Their arrogance and audaciousness are astounding, while their advocates are angry and appalling.

Is there a limit to how many immigrants we are expected to admit? Do we wait until the ship is sinking before we realize there are limits? If an overcrowded ship sinks, then everyone is lost. Do-gooders (as opposed to those who do good) are not the most logical thinkers.

Jim Wallis is another do-gooder who doesn’t think logically and is president of the leftist religious outfit Sojourners. Jim, no longer editor of their journal, declared, “Evangelicals finally realize that how we treat the stranger, these 11 million undocumented people, [No, it is now 22 million] is how we treat Christ himself.” Wallis was evidently napping during his seminary hermeneutics class because he did not get that from the Bible. Christians are to be thoughtful, gracious, kind, and helpful, but that does not translate into being softies, suckers, and sycophants. We could really show how gentle, gracious, and generous—as well as unwise, unreliable, and unhinged—we are by emptying all our prisons!

Well, some governors have tried that, and how has it worked?

Wallis went on to say the leadership of the Evangelical Immigration Table, which includes the National Association of Evangelicals and the Ethics and Religious Liberty Convention of the Southern Baptist Convention and the evangelical community, have “never been more united on an issue.” Jim has one of two problems: he is either disingenuous or uninformed because the vast majority of evangelicals want illegal immigrants to go home.

A Pulse Opinion poll revealed that 78% of Evangelicals surveyed believed that the biblical command to “love the stranger” means “to treat the stranger humanely while applying the rule of law.” Additionally, a Pew Research Center poll showed only 25% of white Evangelicals believed the U.S. had a “responsibility” to accept refugees into the country.

Wallis is wrong again, but then, he should be used to that.

Christ commanded everyone to treat others the way they want to be treated, but that has nothing to do with how a nation deals with illegal aliens. Let’s return to Exodus 23:9: “Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.”

Incoherent preachers neglect to tell their parishioners that the Jews were in Egypt by invitation and were not gatecrashers as are modern fence-climbers. What is never mentioned is the Jews were special guests as long as Joseph was alive, and a friendly Pharaoh reigned.

The Jews were strangers in Egypt (but not illegal aliens) even though they eventually ended up as slaves. Exodus 23:9 does not apply to the immigration issue even slightly. Unlawful foreigners choose to break our laws, also arrogantly demanding entrance into our nation expecting to be cared for upon their arrival. These lawbreakers are not sojourners or strangers but scoundrels and are encouraged to do wrong in breaking our laws by many leftwing religious groups, even some Evangelicals.

Some of these leftists’ religious groups get paid $1850.00 for each immigrant they settle in an American city. Follow the money.

Other desperate defenders of open borders tell us Joseph, Mary, and Jesus were migrants fleeing into another land for safety, so American immigration laws should reflect that fact. However, it is not a fact. The family were not aliens since they were part of the Roman Empire, as was Egypt at that time. Moreover, it was perfectly legal to travel from one Roman province to another. Careless religious leaders should be ashamed of their misrepresentation of Scripture to support a very unsubstantiated position. These people seem to think they exhale divine revelations, but they expel a mish-mash of immature babbling and purposefully distorted theology.

While the Evangelicals are correct in that the Kingdom of God has no borders and welcomes all who qualify through faith in Christ, the city of Jerusalem, the nation of Israel, and all other nations, states, cities, and villages and the Evangelicals’ gated estates do have distinct borders.

Even walls! Gasp.

This is a good example of how far left many Evangelicals are. Evangelical churches are wallowing in diversity and choking on heresy. Evangelicals have proved to be what astute people knew they always were: a hodgepodge of theological lightweights (with a few heavyweights), philosophical cripples, and devotees of political correctness.

Alas, soft, left-leaning Evangelicals are part of the family of God if they have been born again, and I am required, as a member of that family, to warn them, even rebuke and shun them if they continue in their sinful behavior.

Many soft Evangelical leaders are sad, smug, and sanctimonious hypocrites, but it pays well.

President Trump was trying to be correct, careful, but not callous by putting a temporary halt to refugees from seven Middle East nations. After all, his main responsibility is to keep America safe; and therefore, bringing thousands of Muslims who have no concept of democracy and, in fact, have a dedication to sharia law demands caution.

Left wingers, including many Evangelicals, are belching out anger, angst, and animus as they twist scripture to use against President Trump’s temporary pause of refugees. And let’s be honest, part of the Evangelical concern is based on money as mentioned above. The many religious groups that settle “refugees” in the U.S. are paid millions of dollars for their altruism. However, altruism is not altruism if there is a profit to be made.

Those religious groups include the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, World Relief, Church World Services, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Episcopal Migration Ministries, the International Rescue Committee, and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. When these groups send out a news release making their case for more immigration, they never mention that they receive $2,050 for each person they settle. Isn’t that an obvious conflict of interest? For sure, it is not full disclosure.

But it gets worse because all those religious groups must sign a federal waiver that they will not attempt to share the Gospel with the “refugees.” Wait a minute, I thought that was the basic reason all religious groups exist. No, in order to receive federal funds (your tax dollars), these groups agree they will not attempt to win refugees to Christ! It is illegal if they do, the cash will stop flowing. And practically all of the immigrants are Muslim, not Christian. But that’s another column.

But let me get to the twisting of Scripture by religious leaders as they try to convince shallow Christians to swallow the Evangelical ruse and permit unlimited immigration.

The senior pastor of Mosaic Church in Memphis said, “We were once the same kind of refugees. Our families come from similar situations.” No, many of these modern “refugees” chose to break the law and many come unvetted, uninvited, and unwanted to America. President Trump says that won’t happen anymore and for that he is castigated by the haters on the left.

I remind these “do gooders” (as opposed to those who do good) that the Bible often speaks of borders, borders that should be respected. All the major cities in the Ancient Middle East had massive walls, not to keep people in, but to keep gatecrashers from coming in uninvited.

These compromising Evangelical leaders are trying to drive a square peg into a round hole with a sledge hammer, but it simply won’t fit. The President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference Samuel Rodriquez opined, “It’s about our Christian faith. It’s about Matthew 25 and Leviticus 19. It’s about finding a way where we can reconcile Romans 13, ‘respecting the rule of law.’” No, Sam, like many Evangelicals, has to twist the Scripture like a pretzel to make it mean what it was never meant to mean.

Does that mean that we must accept any number of aliens? Does it mean that federal officials are not obligated to carefully investigate everyone who wants to stake a claim in America? Almost all my critics and supporters of amnesty and unlimited immigration confuse what a person should do with what a nation should do and they twist the Bible to support their political position.

The Bible twisters almost always use Exodus 23:9 to support their cause of immigration, amnesty, and sanctuary cities; however they use a flawed hermeneutic to build their tenuous case. Leviticus 19:33 is also used wrongly: “And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.” Again, the preceding verses prove that God was giving instructions for personal conduct by warning them not to consume blood; not to get tattoos or pierce their flesh; not to prostitute their daughters; keep the Sabbath days; not to be involved with sorcery and fortune telling, etc. Then He warned them not to vex a stranger living among them. In fact, Moses went on to say, “thou shalt love him as thyself.”

These verses do not apply to the immigration issue even slightly. Illegal aliens purposefully choose to break our laws, even arrogantly demanding entrance into our nation expecting to be cared for upon their arrival. They are not sojourners or strangers but scoundrels (with a few innocent women and children) and are being encouraged to break our laws by many leftwing religious groups, even some Evangelicals.

Most of the “refugees” are plucked out of an alien culture known for being bellicose, backward, and brutal–never knowing or desiring democracy and the rule of law. They arrive in an American city without any input from the citizens who have built the homes, businesses, streets, churches, colleges, hospitals, etc.! Many aliens will no doubt become productive citizens while others will continue their backward lifestyle. Some are or will become terrorists and it only takes one to kill your family or bomb your church.

The National Center for Lesbian Rights issued a statement calling Trump’s temporary order to keep out immigrants from seven nations as “an attack on American values.” Say what! A bunch of lesbians speaking of American values is like an abortionist speaking about his love for children; an arsonist speaking of his commitment to fire safety; and an anarchist boasting of his desire for constitutional government.

The immigration issue, especially as it relates to Trump’s temporary ban, is proof that many religious leaders wear pantyhose, silk shorts, shirts with lace around the edge and sniff perfume from frilly handkerchiefs–and are shamelessly called men of God!

Leading Evangelicals are at it again–taking a legitimate issue and twisting the facts for an unreasonable, unacceptable, and unbiblical result. They are beating the drums for more refugees (a tragedy if only one terrorist is included) being admitted into the U.S. and shamelessly attacking the conscience of Christians to win their spurious argument. They conjure up helpless, hopeless, and hapless citizens from Muslim nations who must be settled in the U.S. But they are dishonest, very confused, or fanatical.

The drum beaters have a major job ahead of them because Christians have clearly spoken on this issue. A Pew survey conducted before the election reported that about two-thirds of white Evangelicals (67%) and mainline Protestants (65%) declare that they have no moral responsibility to accept Syrian refugees.

The World Relief people, Christianity Today, Sojourners, etc., are trying to lay heavy layers of guilt upon Christians who resist and criticize accepting refugees into America. An article in Christianity Today yelled, “Evangelical Experts Oppose Trump’s Plan to Ban Refugees.” Note that it was not lay members but experts who oppose a temporary ban on refugees. If the experts have any smarts, they will listen to their constituents. And what qualifies them as experts?

Ed Stetzer, Wheaton College professor and blogger, wrote, “First, we must continue to reject false facts.” Ed, there is no such thing as “false facts.” Building up steam like an old-time Pentecostal tent evangelist he said, “I’m pro-life because the unborn are made in the image of God, as are refugees. So, I’m pro-refugee because I am pro-life.” It is commendable that Ed is pro-life but that position does not require a principled person to be pro-refugee especially when some of the refuges will turn out to be terrorists.

But Ed disagrees. He wrote, “This is a safe program and one that evangelicals like me say, even if Trump will not, ‘Give [us] your … huddled masses, yearning to be free.’” His declaration that more refugees placed in America is a “safe program” cannot be verified.

The promoters of more refugees seem to assume that the U.S. is the only available nation for refugees; however, that dog won’t hunt. The Muslim nations should have first call on accepting refuges from Syria, Libya, Somalia, etc. Why move refugees away from their own geographical area to a nation that is totally alien to them in language, religion, customs, law, industry, etc.?

While it is dangerous to question motives of people, I would be slothful if I did not point out that many of these Evangelical pro-refugee non-profits get buckets of money from the government and other entities to plead the case of moving additional refugees to the U.S.

The U.S. government is shoveling buckets of cash into religious non-profit groups whose purpose is to deliver more immigrants into your neighborhood and provide amnesty to the gatecrashers already here. This is part of a one billion dollar annual refugee resettlement budget that is resulting in the ruin, rampage, and rape of our culture. Moreover, it will only accelerate because of more than 3 million Muslims having permanent residence and 250,000 being added each year! These facts suggest a major cultural shift has started in our nation.

Of course, the feeble evangelical leaders are singing from the same page but the evangelical congregation is singing another song. The vast majority of evangelical church members want illegal immigrants to go home. A 2014 Pulse Opinion poll revealed that 78 percent of Evangelicals surveyed believed that the biblical command to “love the stranger” means “to treat the stranger humanely while applying the rule of law.”

If the social-minded Evangelicals want to help refugees then they should not expect American tax-payers to fund their altruism. They can dig into their church coffers and into individual retirement plans to accomplish that purpose. Furthermore, these religious groups are paid by the feds for each refugee they settle in your neighborhood! Follow the money.

Not only the feds but George Soros, the international money speculator, is sugar daddy to the EIT, a leftist group of Christian leaders that never saw a socialist scheme they didn’t like. Soros’ agenda, in addition to making money, is to promote every leftwing program especially transplanting Muslims into Europe and America. He is funding various religious non-profits to accomplish that task. National Review, reported that EIT receives a substantial portion of its funding from groups backed by George Soros. Keep following the money.

Evangelical leaders want to bring more and more Muslims to the U.S. and hand you the bill. Yet, experts tell us there may be 3 to 7 million Muslims in the U.S. and of those Muslims polled, nearly 20% agreed that use of violence to implement Sharia law is justified and 25% declared that it is acceptable to use violence to punish those who offend Islam in their portrayal of Mohammed!

Such people sound to me like terrorists not refugees.

The Chinese philosopher Confucius (551-479 B.C.) and some of his disciples were expelled from one state to another one. They came upon a woman weeping beside a newly dug grave. He asked her why she wept and was told that a tiger had killed her husband, father-in-law, and now her only son. Confucius asked why she lived in such a dangerous place and she replied, “Because there is no oppressive government here.” Walking away, Confucius told his disciples, “My children, remember that oppressive government is worse than a tiger.”

If you think Obama is oppressive, wait until Hillary takes control and attempts to wipe out the “vast right-wing conspiracy.” A right-winger is anyone with a Bible, a gun, a flag, a backbone, and a touch of common sense.

If Hillary wins the presidency, the Democrats will be ringing bells in a victory celebration singing “Happy Days are Here Again” but those days will fade. Within months, we will all end up wringing our hands, not bells.

Hillary was a high-school Young Republican and “Goldwater Girl” in 1964 but gave her support to Democrat Eugene McCarthy’s campaign in 1968 and George McGovern’s in 1972. She has been going downhill ever since. Her main activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers who were being tried for torturing and killing a federal agent! According to Dick Morris, a close advisor to Bill Clinton, she “went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.” She was looking for an appeal to free vicious Black Panthers!

Hillary talks much about working after graduating from college to better the condition of poor kids; but the fact is she “interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him” according to Morris.

Hillary will immediately do the second amendment thing if she is elected. She voted for the Brady Bill and voted to permit gun manufacturers to be sued if someone misused one of their guns! The feds already know where many of America’s guns are so they will attempt confiscation, making criminals out of decent resisting Americas. Many gun owners will not submit to confiscation. Hundreds, maybe thousands, could be killed but the do-gooders will justify the bloodshed because they “finally handled the gun problem.” However, anyone with the IQ equal to the circumference of a gun barrel knows that the criminals will still have their guns! Gun grabbing fanatics never answer this problem–because they can’t.

She wants to close GITMO and move the terrorists to mainland USA where they would be treated as American citizens with all a citizen’s legal rights! The fact is she wants all terrorists captured on any battlefield to have the same constitutional rights as Americans! Moreover, she wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone calls to and from the USA making it more difficult for US officials to do their jobs and easier for the terrorists to do theirs!

Hillary has always been in bed with the LGBT crowd as if she were their spokesperson. She and Bill’s sexual proclivities have always been suspect. Of course, Bill’s is an open book while Hillary’s is covert. She changed her mind and now supports “gay” marriage since that helps raise money; she marched in a “gay” pride event; and says “gays” deserve domestic partnership benefits from employers. She is rated 0% by the Christian Coalition for her anti-family voting record.

Hillary is pro-abortion meaning she is anti-life. As a senator she voted the liberal line on partial birth and harm to an unborn child; she voted against prohibiting minor girls from crossing state lines to get an abortion; she voted against informing parents when a daughter leaves the state to get an abortion; she voted against making it a criminal offense to harm an unborn child during another crime; and she voted against preventing partial birth abortions except to save the life of the mother. Hillary is not baby friendly but Planned Parenthood loves her.

She will push America into bankruptcy by requiring companies to pay for family leave and limit and destroy businesses with her cap and trade policies. She will allocate $28 billion annually to improve the infrastructure and raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour although everyone knows it will eliminate threshold jobs and close small businesses.

Hillary supported the National Endowment for the Arts; she wants a New Deal for Communities of Color; she wants to re-introduce the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA); she says that we needed to bail out AIG and Lehman; and she would stop prison time for marijuana users, end harsh sentences for crack use, divert nonviolent drug users away from prisons, and have more treatment and special drug courts. She says that vaccines work; she wants an increase in US global commitment for AIDS; and wants women to register for the draft.

Clinton wants debt-free college for all young people; she wants to refinance all college loans for 40 million students; she will forgive student loans for national service; she wants another $28 billion annually to provide preschool for 4-year-olds thus making the teachers’ unions ecstatic; she opposes merit pay for teachers; she supports charter schools but not vouchers; and she rates 82% by the National Education Association (NEA) so when the teachers’ unions ring Hillary’s bell, she comes running.

Hillary wants half a billion solar panels in her first four years; she opposes the Keystone Pipeline; she is unsure about nuclear power; but she thinks climate change is obvious in the Arctic, voted to factor global warming into federal project planning, and voted to ban drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She regrets that the US is not part of International Criminal Court; she wants to establish strong funding for international development and supports micro-loans to third-world women. Now that would be an incredible boondoggle and impossible to monitor.

Hillary wants the US to accept 65,000 Syrian refugees. She voted not to require photo ID to vote. She is against building a southern wall and wants a path to citizenship for illegals. She is for sanctuary cities and voted to continue funding them. She wants illegal alien children covered in state college tuition and in healthcare coverage. She voted against English as our official language, voted to support illegal aliens to receive Social Security, and voted to provide social services for noncitizens.

Confucius never saw such an expansive, expensive, and exasperating government as we may have next year. Plan on doing a great amount of hand-wringing although hand-wringing, like foot-stomping and breath-holding don’t do any good–but voting makes a difference.
